New Here
Hi everyone.

I've been lurking here for a little while as my husband's combat induced PTSD symptoms worsen. We met and married after he had gone to war, come home injured and been diagnosed. I had no idea he had PTSD at first.

To add complications (as if we ever need that) we are both long haul truck drivers - working in separate trucks. Its been a very rough road as of late, and I forsee myself in the carer forums a good deal. I am on the verge of being able to not handle this - but this seems to have convinced my husband he does finally need help.

I am writing this post from his new therapist's waiting room. (Please forgive typos, I am on a mobile phone!) I am very grateful for this community already, as some of the stories here help shed some light on the private hell we've both been in.

Welcome to the forum.

I'm glad your husband is seeking help. Have you considered seeing a therapist of your own to get support as you care for him?

Welcome to the forum. It helped me a lot to see I'm not the only one who goes through that rollocoaster life.

Tell your husband to join the Combat PTSD site, he's not alone one there. It is a very supportiv group there aswell.

Welcome canela.. and best wishes as you and your husband seek help.

I am a longtime friend of a Vietnam era combat vet with some PTSD and have had some small success in trying to help.. More success in getting it for myself than him, but he is gradually healing. He has found at last a friend who can share some of his experiences, who is also a combat vet. I feel the understanding of a fellow vet in getting him to process some of the horrors he went thru so long ago is invaluable. And I hope you and your husband can also find some good ways to help heal. Good luck!
