My husband got diagnosed with PTSD about 6 month ago, and I am having a hard time accepting it! Can anyone give me some insight!

Hello and welcome to the group. It is hard to accept and understand, but how far you go is up to you. My best opinion is this...research, research, research. Anthony has a lot of great articles that explain Ptsd, its triggers, and tools to help. I have Ptsd, but I also care for three children with it as well. It is not an easy road, but if you love someone enough it is worth the effort. It can be controlled, but it will need to be understood. There is a great supporter section that has caregivers of people with Ptsd and things to help you as well.

I wish you the best of luck and hope that it all works out for you. Be well!!

Hey Mass .

My ex wife put up with a lot of behavior that was from one end of the scale to the other. She was my rock and helper. All I can say is be you and understanding. Make sure you take care of yourself to. All we have is time ......

As Amyo said, make sure you check out the caregivers center and don't be afraid to ask a question . Someone has been there and more than likley has some great advice.

Hello Jamie Mass

Welcome to the forum.

It's great that you are here, to learn about PTSD and get some support along the way. PTSD can be a roller-coaster of a ride for the sufferer, but obviously it affects their loved ones too. I echo what the others have said, and read, read, read as much as you can about PTSD to help both you and your husband. Perhaps you could persuade him to take a look here too?

The next most important thing is to look after you. Like I said, it can be a difficult journey, and you need to be well, in order to support him. Get yourself some support, someone you can talk to, and use this forum. There are a great bunch of people here, who lovingly support people with PTSD - they will be able to offer you guidance along the way.

All the best

Be supported of your hubby. He probably needs lots of support right now.

My hubby was diagnoised about 2 1/2 years ago, some days are good and then some days are bad.

Please find a support group in your area that you can attend, start working on yourself and then hopefully your hubby will start attending with you.

I am seeking out help for me now, because I know that I need help, as well with coping with this disorder. I am waiting for his doctor to refer me to some counseling so that I can start attending right away.

My prayers are with you and your hubby.
