I am in a part of the US that has no tourism, no ppl coming here to work. There are only 24K ppl in our county, yet daily we are getting cases in the teens. People are leaving for vacations. Too many still think its a hoax and will disappear after election. I see people getting worn down from this, outbursts, depression, isolation, and just pure frustration. Many are making banana and zucchini breads and such. That only goes so far. Alcohol sales are up. People are so divided they want to kill each other. There must be a lesson in all of this. Americans are such big consumers, but need or can have so little right now. Fear wears people down and I am tired too. I think the US is so divided by political parties that nothing good can come of all of this. Yet I know there are lessons here.

In my state the outbreak is pretty bad, but the state is also taking appropriate aggressive measures.

Schools are shutting back down. In the middle of this the public pool I’m swimming at decided to end social distancing of our maskless lap swimmers. I asked for an ADA accommodation of being exempted from this, and looped in public health that told them the policy to end social distancing breaks public health codes, all should be exempted and the policy ended.

Policy continues.

They claimed stupid stuff that don’t apply to lap swimmers. They tried to say were are exempt but the city and state codes have societies rules for swimmers. Not exempt. We have to be 6ft apart we are maskless! Ugh!

Myself and other swimmers took videos, proved the problem again, looped in the citizen advisory board that is also asking the policy be changed back to what was working... because it was right in the website for the parks and rec dept.

Then I asked myself wtf? Why? Why am I doing this? I haven’t said anything about or bothered with anyone wearing or not wearing masks around me until this. I figure I’d keep me at a distance, follow our protocols at work, eat well and pray.

The pool was a place I needed so bad to open up after such a long closure... and if they keep this we could see them earn an early shut down of the pools!

I had to be Covid tested last week and they lost the test. By the time they discovered that, my doc and etc was convinced I was fine.

I was in the middle of a store today, masked, social distanced, etc, etc. reading a sign about dwindling TP supplies (I’m fine with or without TP) but it brought back the memory of the panic in March and different things came to mind of all that has happened since. I suddenly felt Covid-fatigue. Instead of compassion fatigue it was covid fatigue. I’m so tired of it all.

DharmaGirl- yes, sounds like neighbors. I have cleaned out every closet and sought places to donate, had repairs done, painted garage trim, planted a garden, organized the shed, etc. Many little projects. Thank goodness it is summer time. We can at least spend some time outdoors. People are going crazy around me. One neighbor with only a 30 ft lot attempted to build a chicken coop but was against city ordinance. So they are attempting garden instead. Last night my husband painted my toe nails. Looks like a 4 yr old did it but Im grateful...maybe...lol Yes our president is...underwhelmed... There is such a lack of leadership right now. I am suffering covid fatigue too. Yet my primary care dr says I must come for a 6 month visit in order to keep getting my prescriptions filled so I have an appointment for tomorrow.....Oh, what to wear. lol. In all seriousness, I take all of this very serious, but if my husband asks me what is for dinner one more night or says we have to go to WalMart, Im gonna loose my cookies. I had to retreat myself tonight.

Where I live in the UK is currently in a local lockdown due to a rise in cases. We can't have people round to our houses or socialise with them at restaurants/ pubs, but we can met people in outdoor spaces like the park. My area specifically only has 4 cases per 100,000, but other areas in the county have significantly more.

Masks were made mandatory in shops a couple of weeks ago. Most people seem to be wearing them & I've only heard of one person have any kind of altercation regarding mask wearing.

Most retail staff have been advised by higher ups that they cannot enforce mask wearing in store. There is also a list of exemptions & people not wearing masks are meant to carry an ID round with them.

The current governments approval rating is plummeting. A lot of people in my area are frustrated. The local lockdown was announced via an iPhone note by our health minister on Twitter 2 hours before it came into place. He then did a disastrous round of interviews the following morning.

How did this happen @bellbird? Are your borders open again? I'm sorry I haven't been following. I can't get back surgery because of covid. They are giving me steroids so I can get around, but the hospital near where I live has rising cases so I can't go. This virus has really changed so much. Since I have numb toes and other problems, I was told I qualified for surgery. I don't know if I want to.

Are your borders open again?
They've been largely closed, except we've been accepting repatriation flights and other entry to the country for special or sensitive reasons, is my understanding.

A family of 4 in Auckland has been tested positive, with apparently no connections to overseas or the managed isolation facilities at the border.

But, people (read: idiots) have escaped from the border facilities, so it's possible they then spread it.

Then ore people (read: idiots) in Auckland rushed to panic buy at supermarkets even before the announcement at finished last night that we were going back into lockdown.

Sooo I expect we will see a bunch more cases. Sigh.

Ugh! Went to Walgreens and then Aldi. Last time I went to Aldi they were sanitizing and then giving out carts for free. They finally put the carts back to where they usually are. You have to put a quarter in it to unlock it and then you put it back and get your quarter back. They finally locked the carts back up and so there was this, I'm assuming a homeless, guy out in the parking lot without a mask. He is coming up to people and offering to put their cart away thus he gets the quarter. He had this story of needing a few bucks for a hotel. It wasn't about the quarter. I would of given him the quarter. He had no mask, he came right up to me within feet even with my service dog there he was almost stepping on my service dog. He asked to take my cart back up but never allowed me to answer and just started to forcefully take my cart away. f*ck you dude! If you tried to cover up your mouth and didn't get within feet of me and didn't forcefully try to take my cart away, I would of let you have it. I said no, and wanted my quarter back and then ripped the cart out his hand.

Most people are wearing masks now here but they are walking very close to you. I had 4 people in front of me and 3 behind me in an aisle, all within a few feet and no one would move. I'm over here trying to get out of there almost yelling "excuse us" and no one would move. People are almost acting like hurricane prepping now. People going nuts in a grocery store. People are certianly still panic buying here. But at least most have masks. Most. Not all.
