I have had therapy twice this week, and while it was hard to get through the EMDR, I did it. Let me tell you, it was worth it. I haven't had body memories all day, and no anxiety. I know it's only one day, but you have to start somewhere, right? Yippeeeeeee

I had my first real EMDR session this week and the session was good. I got in to the memory and stayed with the emotion. Woke up really buzzed in the middle of the night after. Not unpleasant but couldn't sleep for awhile.
I'm having some strong emotions but think that my reactions to people aren't so muddled up. Feel like things are rearranging inside me.

I'm looking forward to going next week and doing it again.

It's possible I could go twice in one week next month. Is this advisable? I'm also working now.

@seedling yes, that is what I do. I see my T twice a week when doing EMDR. What you describe seems common. My T always says the EMDR keeps working even after we leave the office. It stimulates both sides of our brain to process the trauma. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is difficult. My T tries to tell me to advert my attention if it goes down to difficult stuff so that I don't end up in flashback. Overall though the EMDR has helped me a LOT with other traumas.... this one though is keeping me stuck. Glad you are seeing progress!

Good for you it did wonders for me as well and totally changed my life for the better.
Me, too!!! It brought me far, and fast!!! We still use it when necessary! I had stopped all therapy when I saw my therapist 'in action'.

I had a friend, who had been assaulted by a male physician, and it was strongly recommended that she see my therapist (not at the time). So, I sat in the back of the room, just to make her feel safe, and I watched them during the EMDR session. I saw how it helped her, and right away, asked him if I could become his client. Hallelujah he said "yes"!

I had become 'stuck' on some things concerning my daughter's death, and within the first few sessions, those issues were solved and I had a whole new outlook! THAT was amazing!!!

I've been doing exposure therapy for a while now and it, like EMDR, is a very difficult and slow process but it does make a difference. lately I'm regressing a bit, because it's near to my trauma anniversary, but that's a different topic. EMDR is very similar to exposure therapy that's why I can relate.

Congratulations it's a big deal!!!

@Secret, thanks for the thread. It gave me a lot of encouragement this week.

I feel better today and feel like the work I did in EMDR on Tues. has taken hold. In a situation at work today where I usually would have been scared and anxious, I stayed calm and worked things out and could stay out of "their stuff" - not make it "my stuff."
