You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you drive 55 miles on a 7 mile journey.

Yep my husband did that today, after taking the wrong exit at the second roundabout. He ended up having to wait for his friend to come and get him to follow him to their house.

Then he had to follow one of them half way back, so he did not get lost again.

I knew he did not know where he was going before he set off, but hey he had to learn somehow.

At least he is home safe now.

When you only realize your roommate left the apartment when he opens the front door, even though he walked right in front of the TV you were watching when he left.

When you have to consistently stop a person minutes into a conversation with, "can you repeat that, I didn't hear a word you just said?"

When your dog has learned to push all of his legs into your back while he's sleeping in your bed so you don't thrash into him in your sleep.

When you completely forget your phone number while leaving it in a message for a disability counselor and there's a good minute of silence before you remember.

When you have asked people in your college lecture to switch seats with you so you can have your back to the wall. You also have a minimum of three different escape plans for that room.

When you completely discount the gruesomeness of being a forensic scientist when considering future careers because after all, you already have PTSD.

When you have a panic attack from posting in the forum because people absolutely terrify you.

When you spill coffee all over yourself because you're too busy reading this and miss your mouth! (actually just did that!)

When you're sat in class and you can't read what's put in front of you...then get asked a question and find yourself saying "eerrm....."

When 90% of your phonecalls are either:

a) your T...

b)your doctor...

c) your mental health person...

or d) your family, which causes you to hang up and go to bed with a cold compress!
