You Know You Have PTSD When...

When looking at someone lying to somebody in a very obvious way makes you want to puke out of anxiety and run away(and if you're able to you actually do run)- or you actually cause, on purpose, something to crash down or fall to the floor only to interrupt the person making a fool out of him/herself.

Yes, go to a restaurant with live music, which is bad, and you leave your meal, slink home and pull the covers over your head.
Oh boy, do I know that feeling. The slink home takes the longest because all you can think about is your safe, warm, catted bed.
When no one has ever physically fought with you because you have a latent readiness for violence in defense about you.
Yeah. I am constantly having to restrain myself from lashing out at people that startle me.

And on that note - when a drunk little man trying to sell a jacket to fund more grog starts to shit you off, especially after he gets in the face of a lovely indian couple with a few week old baby, and then your country girl innocent 17 year old sister.....twice!

So you tell him to bugger off or you'll bash his head in - and the idiot takes you on - and then your bar-brawl brother with trigger-hair temper sees you calmly put down the basket of washing, roll up your sleeves, and then the look on your face, and hastily intervenes before you turn the irritant into a lovely big pile of smush on the concrete.

Such a shame - there was a lovely pole that would have let out a heavenly ring had I connected his head with it.

There is only ONE time I ever lost it physically and that was when I was in the 6th grade. All the boys in the class all year long had been picking on me. I finally "lost it" one day with just one too many insults and beat the living daylights out of him. I heard he ended up in the hospital with a concussion or broken ribs or something (but told his parents he'd fallen off a building, too embarrassed that a meer GIRL had beat him to a pulp). Anyway, after that, NONE of the boys picked on me. None of them ever asked me out on a date either, in fact, no fellows 'cept two ever asked me out from Junior or Senior High School either, and those two dumped me like a hot potato shortly after asking me out. SOOOoooo.... I can relate.

Sheila, I actually laughed out loud when I read that, you really are my hero!

I've lost it a few times over the years, mainly at home when my brother was driving me bonkers and we ended up smacking the rubbish out of each other until we were both nursing sore body parts.

The last time I physically lost it would be back in 2007, when I was a stable hand.

One of the jockeys had been drinking, and started swinging a riding crop around - except he clipped me upside the face with it, thought it was funny, and proceeded to do it again before I could react.

Well, 'Kitty' as I was known, wasn't too impressed with that, so when he went to do it the 3rd time, I picked up the vacuum cleaner pole, and proceeded to beat the crap out of him with it, and then the riding crop.

I then walked towards the bedroom, but he ran after me and pushed me against the wall and started choking me, so we were in a standoff where neither of us had leverage, til I turned my head sideways, and he followed with the angle of his arm, so I bent his arm backwards and smacked his head into the mudbrick wall, then walked off.

You definitely know you have PTSD when you look back on times like that with a smile, remembering how nice it was to be able to retaliate, but remember good times now a bit anxiously, because anxiety clouds everything!

You know you have ptsd when you're wondering if you've already posted that thing that just happened on the 'you know have ptsd when...' thread.

I went looking for something in the basement. Forgot what I was looking for, but I can't figure out where some of the stuff I found came from. I don't think it's mine. No idea who it might belong to, but it doesn't belong here.
