Hey Nic, welcome. Sorry... been on holidays in NYC. I wrote off to VVCS, rung them, tried tracking you down for permission... end result was some chick high up in VVCS said go for it as long as its free.

You are a god damn legend Nic... providing it is actually you... web and anonymity and all.

That video has a foundation of understanding that certainly got me kicking my own arse and getting motivated into fixing my own shit somewhat.

Thank you for your work to help PTSD.

Anthony, I really am the 'real' Nic though I am a little older and a lot thinner. I will also admit that I am not that competent on the computer or using this format but will no doubt learn
I don,t know whether I answer each individuals comments or can they all read this?
I am not in the business of promoting the dvd, I am prepared to discuss most things related to PTSD. I did go to the USA national conference of the Viet Vets in 1997 at Kansas City to explain our Lifestyle courses and received a good hearing.

You have m email and phone number so you canring to verify my ID if you wish.

Yer, everyone can see this... so no worries with that. Good enough for me then...

I don't know why VVCS don't have that video everywhere online... I haven't met a vet yet who hasn't watched it and by the end of it the lights started to click and understand military programming to symptom severity, what happens within us, so we know what we must do in order to get it and keep it under control the best we can. The amount of money the US spend on trying to educate their vets... then they see that video and the penny drops.

Can't praise your work enough.

I will work on getting a number of dvd's in the next fortnight and will give them to you. I am also going to talk to the head of the Defence PTSD program re. a mentoring program for returning soldiers. I have had a number of request for this over the past year. I would like to talk to you over the phone re this . Get in touch

Nic,

Unless you start a private conversation which I have sent you one, everyone who is a member can see your posts.

Cheers

Hey Nic,

No need for the DVD's if they're the "Not in the forces now", as I do all my helping via online, and already have the DVD. I do have your phone number and will give you a call next week about your mentoring program. If I can assist in any way, more than happy to do so.

Nic, I watched the video and got my wife to view it with me as well. It didnt solve everything but it did help my wife and I to understand more together than before. It was a huge help for me 20 years out of service and not getting help from the VA or Military. Most of the local mental health has no clue about PTSD or combat related PTSD either.
Thank You for taking the time to help me understand things. And for giving my wife a better insite as well. Your a diamond! Cheers!

Yeah, but Red, the locals should have training in treating anxiety, which seems to be the worst underlying element of our beast. My civie therapist has no PTSD-specific training either but she was able to zero in on the main thrust of my anxiety and give me some relief. Getting the Clonazepam from my private shrink, which the VA adamantly refused to give me, went a long way in calming things down.

I'm getting much better treatment now than I could ever get at my VA and I feel better. The "highs" aren't as high nor the "lows"so very low.

Sarg

Sarg,
I wish it were so. I had panic attacks going to the clinic every time I had to go in to therapy or to see the doctor. They would measure out the medication and I either had to come back on the same day the meds ran out or come back, sit for 5 hrs and explain why I couldnt do an appointment on that day. System was complete carrot and stick. I objected to the methods and the screws were tightened even further.
I discussed the medicines and the lack of it working. I was told, Your poor. This is what you get if you dont like it you dont have to take the medicine. I was told the same concerning the treatment plan. If I objected, there was a door. And I could leave. I was also told if I left not to bother coming back.
I did try to go back. Situation got worse not better.
Thats my local county and its low cost mental health policy. Keep out the people who really need help and it wont cost us that much to provide care. I dont trust the VA enough to piss on the lawn let alone ask for help.
We all have different situations. I am glad you have a good set of locals helping you out. I dont. It is partly my fault. If I was willing to drive the 2 hrs one way to get to a VA hospital I could get some care. I cant afford that trip and I wont go to the VA. SO I know I restrict myself for care. I have no clue what will happen to me for my healthcare.
As screwed up as I am I figure this. ...I got myself here. I should be able to figure a way out.
And if I did have decent local care you can bet I would be there getting help.

Sorry Nic... haven't gotten to ringing yet. Was quite ill last week and have been focused on network upgrades this week. I am getting there though and will do my best to call you this week.

hi nic ,i would just like to say thanks to you for the ptsd dvd ,i am a british forces veteran and just been to a combat stress course run in the uk ,and your film was the first thing us veterans watched ,and it gave us a clear understanding of ptsd ,combat stress is a charity in the uk ,trying to help ex forces vets to understand and help us to live and deal with our problems ,they are currently running a six week program ,which 19 other vets attended from different era,s from the 1950,s to the present day ,all trying to deal with life after combat ,with all its vast problems ,i now have a better understanding and hopefully can with the right medication and help move forward to a more productive life ,thanks again

This video is now shown to all British Vets who go to Combat Stress. I discovered it by chance. It changed my life and made me get help. It felt like a veil being lifted and put everything into context.

Thank You!
