This is a thread for us, in which we can share about our physical conditions. One where we all might find a caring "ear." I think we all suffer with physical pain at times, due to stress or some defect in our body. I don't know if PTSD specifically causes physical pain for all of us as some kind of side effect or not, but I think it is something we all have to deal with somehow at times anyway.

You know that family and friends don't really like to hear about our aches and pains, but I have found that folks here are so loving and caring that I bet you all won't mind. I am betting right now, that if I say that I am suffering from Sciatic Nerve Pain, that at least one of you will be supportive toward me, maybe even have some experienced advice for me and at least just some love and support for me if you don't have any advice.

I am going to Physical Therapy for this pain, I have exercises I need to do for it twice a day, assigned to me by my Physical Therapist. I go for my second appointment today. I put ice on my back at times. I go out for walks. I do whatever I can possibly think of to ease my suffering. Right now, it is not as bad as it was earlier today. Just sharing about it eases my burden too. So thanks for reading.

Anyone who hurts physically too, please feel free to tell us about yours. I am all "ears" and I have a caring, loving heart and soul. I know others here do too. So feel free to share and share alike!

Well for myself it would gave to be the physucal pain I suffer everytime I have a seizure.

As a result of my now over 200 seizures I have also suffered 6 mild heart attacks and 2 mini strokes and am now partially paralyzed down my left side.

But, my attitude to my own problems is that it's just my bad luck, as a result of my own actions. It is my shit and I own it. Please don't anyone feel sadness towards me, I am simply grateful for all the support I have been shown these past six months. I really don't deserve it but thank you all.

Mr Laurie

Well, Laurie, I feel for ya! I am sorry that you are suffering all this stuff, even if you feel that you brought it upon yourself. :hug:s to you to comfort you anyway, my friend.

My Sciatica runs in my family. Even my adopted niece has it, go figure on that one? All I can figure is that it might be the way we sit or something that brings it on. I know I plop down hard in my chairs, I don't sit gently, but I sure should! I am trying to retrain myself to sit slowly and gently and not shock my back with sudden pressure when I sit. It is hard to retrain yourself how to sit down when you are in your mid-60s!

Constant pain in knees, back, shoulders and neck... From car accidents, broken bones. Some days it wears on me to the point of depression. I have to get moving when that happens..I stay tense because of the pain which in turn makes the pain worse... some days I am just so wore out from it all. Have been smoking pot before going to bed.. it does help me to relax and get some sleep.
Thanks for this thread.. as you say, people get tired of us talking about our pain... so it's nice to have a place to put it down and out....

@ladee You are very welcome. I feel for ya! Knees are a bad one especially. We put so much pressure on them, especially if we are at all overweight. Then of course, pain makes us feel like staying inside, sitting or laying down and so we gain weight, which puts more pressure on those knees! It is a horrible battle for me to get out some days, because I am heat and cold sensitive. One of my meds even says so, that I will be heat sensitive. So I cannot be out when it is hot. So I went out for a walk early this morning. That helped, It was a bit chilly, but I enjoyed it. I have one bad knee. Some days it is worse than others. It gets swollen too. Today it did not bother me. I was so grateful. It is amazing sometimes what we can become grateful for. A day with less pain is one to celebrate!

I have avascular nacreous in both knees, not enough blood going to my knees so the bone, tissues and muscles are dying. A tear between L5 and S1, herniated disc a bit further up (cant remember where at this time) and disc problems between C5 nd C6. I have a blood disorder called Factor 5 which caused 4 blood clots in my lungs and two in my right leg.

I have a TENS unit for my back. Best thing ever. My wife uses it as well.

Five years ago, I was stuck in a pattern of severe self harm. I cut my leg and it went through an artery and severed a tendon. I had surgery to repair it and was then admitted to the psychiatric unit. The nurses there weren't used to dealing witg dressing changes, and there were no sinks or sanitizer in the rooms. So I have no idea if they washed their hands or not. Gloves were never worn. I developed an infection. Since then, I have had tons of infections in that leg, always with the same bacteria. I have had surgery twenty three times since then. I have lost a lot of muscle tissue and tendons and only the smallest artery to my leg is still functional. I am ALWAYS in pain. Sometimes to the point of tears or throwing up. I will always struggle with pain and weakness in my leg. It has dramatically changed the course of my life.

So sorry to hear about all this. What a shame that they don't seem to supply what is needed for wound care in psych units! I doubt any psych unit has what would be needed, yet so may of us are self harmers in one way or another, that you would think it should be standard fare. Sheeeesh! I am not sure how we could get this oversight changed, but I sure wish we could.

I hope there will be some way to help you in the future with all your pain. I really feel for you.
