It's been about a month since my new therapist "guanteed" me I have ptsd. Like most, I doubted that, believing it was only for soldiers. Honestly, I felt guilty even considering it to be true. "I don't belong with those brave people who sacrificed themselves in war!" I thought. They really ought to create a new term for those of us who aren't quite that noble. Anyway, after reading about 7 books this month on the subject, I believe it's C-PTSD I'm dealing with from a traumatic childhood. Now that I understand what ptsd is, it answers questions I've had for about 35 years now. I can put a name to the confusion and suffering. I'm tremendously grateful for that, and ready to do the heavy lifting now. I've started a regimen of guanfacine and Concerta and trying balance it out, I will ask some questions in appropriate threads more about that after I get settled in. I'm so glad to find you all here!
