Hi. I wanted to say, My therapist is totally neglecting my care. She is Dr. of psychology. She is forensic psychologist. She has never ever returned any of my calls when i am in crisis. When I go to therapy, she doesn't say anything, but sometimes puts me down... for example, she said "you don't want to look crazy or loony to people when your having one of your PTSD meltdowns." I will have severe panic attacks and start screaming............... i have done that in the car... she said people driving by will think you are loony and crazy..... then she told me I should lay low and keep to myself and stay in my apartment- which I have been isolating too long..... I have had severe panic attacks- this is worse I have ever mentally been.

I can only see her twice a month- cause she is so busy- when I am in crisis, she never reaches back to me- she told me she is too busy to help me. she is got court to go too. I have not learned any coping skills. I wanted to join a group that teaches coping skills with another group out of her company- she would not do a referral. she also would not allow me to do a psychological evaluation at this other facility to get help. she said she could do all of that= she hasn't done any of it.

I tested her one day and told her I was not going to return to therapy- she emailed me and said OK. she doesn't even care. She doesn't care if I kill myself--I came to the conclusion that this psychologist- I don't care if she is doctor ---she is neglecting my care--- I should have gone to that group that teaches DBT coping skills for my ptsd- now it is too late- i was on 8 month waiting list- my therapist said NO-- Now, I have to start from scratch all over again..... I felt suicidal....

I have had severe panic attacks for hours--- in last few days- I am going to have to get my heart checked out cause I was having chest pains etc. during these panic attacks- my vision went blurry too and I also have type two diabetes and high blood pressure. This therapist does not care. I will ask her for advice about something in therapy, she said you need to figure that out for yourself. I would like to know what you guys and gals think..... should I leave this therapist?? This is worse I have mentally have ever been in longtime for my PTSD- I started contemplating killing myself- I even told that to the therapist and she didn't even call me back- it is been two weeks and she doesn't care. I don't care if she is forensic psychologist and goes to court, etc-- she is neglecting my care.

What do you think you should do?

What options are you considering?

Sounds like she isn't meeting your needs or doesn't understand.

Chest pain is a common PTSD symptom during anxiety, I believe, but it's also not something to ignore, medically. So good plan to have it checked out.

A lot of people have anxiety during driving. I've seen people crying a lot while driving. I don't mind it. I hate seeing people hitting other passengers in the car. That causes me to have panic while driving. Even if I see movement that makes no sense, I will think there is abuse and feel panic. It's sometimes relaxing but often stressful while driving.

I suggest using aromatherapy in the car, using a minty fresh scent or something that helps you feel alert and calm, like Lavendar and Eucalyptus. Maybe consult with an aromatherapist for car panic attacks. Don't blame yourself for them, take action. :)

She doesn't sound very empathetic, rather narcissistic (I'm so important that I don't have time for you.)
Did you have problems with narcissists in your family growing up? I did.

Hugs,

Muse

Yes, definitely get yourself another therapist, like YESTERDAY. This one is obviously not serving your needs. Try to find a Trauma Specialist. Ask your MD to refer you to one. Maybe he/she can help you locate a Therapist that will be right for you. My MD gave me a list of female therapists when I asked her to refer me to one. I called the numbers on the list until I reached one and I have been with her ever since. She is perfect for me.

Find a trauma specialist, if at all possible.

This woman is counterproductive, it sounds like. She's wasting your time and money.

Do get your heart checked- and take blood pressure meds unless you can get your blood pressure under control via diet and exercise.
High pressure is not something that can be safely ignored.

Amazon carries DBT workbooks, until you can get into a DBT class I suggest you get one and use one.

Why are you seeing a forensic psychologist? Do you have a history of crime and she was appointed by the judicial system?

I guess not.
In which case seek out a trauma therapist, with compassion and start afresh.

Why are you seeing a forensic psychologist? Do you have a history of crime and she was appointed by the...

I have NO criminal history. I am non-violent individual. I have had horrible crimes committed against me since I was a young child. I have survived three rapes and molestation, domestic family violence, psychological and emotional abuse and physical abuse. I saw her cause I couldn't get into anyone else. I found out that she is Dr. Of forensic psychology-- she said she helps people with PTSD- yet the secretary person told me she doesn't have training in trauma, DBT, etc. I fired her today. :) I found help in another county! :D
