Canadian Drivers License...No Smiling!!!!

I had to renew my license today and now when you get a license picture you are NOT allowed to smile. Apparently it is going to be similar to a passport, reminds me of a mug shot. This is new...she said that some people are being sent back in because their picture is too nice and they have to retake it...No smiling!!! I just thought I would share this..it seems kind of funny..I mean really what is the difference if you are smiling or not..sending people in to retake pictures sure seems like a waste of canadian tax payers money. How can this make a difference....kind of makes no sense to me at all.

Yes, it's the same for passports. I got a Canadian passport last summer and there was NO smiling. Apparently one of the reasons is so that the fraud, face recognition software works better.

My MIL told me that she finds Americans nicer and friendlier that Canadians...I was all like " how the heck did she arrive at that conclusion?" Maybe, she's been looking at too many passports and drivers licenses..LOL!

Pand........I would feel better having my picture taken if they made us wear a bag over our faces....I DO NOT do pictures well at all. My license looks worse than a mug shot, if that's possible......

ROTFL Last time I renewed my driver's license, the clerk asked if I just wanted to reuse the same picture - which was taken at least a decade ago. The computer allows them to do that. So now my license picture is starting to look like the picture of Dorian Gray, but in reverse! Do you think the police will run me in for using my daughter's license?

I'm not even going to debate who's friendlier or nicer...cause I got nothing...lol.
I was just wondering how on earth "she" arrived at that conclusion being that as far as I know, she's never even met an American...well maybe one or two, out of their element...but she's lived in Canada for the last 10 years...and Middle East before that

I think it had more to do with her being ticked over the retarded temperatures we've been having, and the bus strike...otherwise, I'll have to say, she has no idea what she's talking about.

Everyone says Canadians are nicer...LOL.

Canadian Customs is definitely friendlier than US Customs. Come to think of it, most of the Canadians I know are pretty darn nice. But, I was encouraged to smile for my last driver license picture. Don't know what the problem is with you folks up there in the frozen wastelands.
