I don't know that all cops get that any cop who abuses a member of the public is making it harder and more dangerous to do their jobs.
That's a very good point

Time and again cops who try to restrain the excesses of a colleague get ostracized, disciplined, fired and even put into harms way.

The culture and incentives are very much against the good cops prevailing.

From a sociological point of view it's very interesting that private sector gangs have a range of incentives which tend to favour moderation and peaceful outcomes (violence is expensive, and most people avoid engaging with dangerous individuals and groups - it's bad for business for both ordinary local people and for gangs).

but for the state sector cops, the costs of excessive violence are not borne by the individuals indulging in the excesses, they are socialized onto the tax payers, and the cops operate as a monopoly - their clients don't get much of a choice of alternative suppliers.

When it becomes clear to sufficeint people that cops are more of a threat than a benefit, people seek alternative arrangements, whether from neighbourhood organizations, or by forming gangs or contracting with gangs.

With the inner city gangs, the depredations of the police result in a very high turnover of people, and there is therefore insufficient time for the sounder individuals and groups to prevail - hence the constant power struggles to succeed the latest guy who got shot or locked up.

In the meantime, it's open season on people who want to take a shot at a cop and THAT is what does not help the Black Lives Matter movement. Black lives do matter...
It also doesn't help that George Soros' Open Societey Foundations have been bankrolling "Black Lives Matter" to the tune of approximately $33M

historically, Soros has thrived on instability and unrest, and whether in Eastern Europe, the EU or in America, it is difficult to avoid arriving at the conclusion that Soros' "philanthropic" efforts appear to be geared at creating chaos for the little people.

CAIR too has "joined causes" with Black Lives Matter as well and recently protested at California's Governor Jerry Brown's office. Whoo hoo... with friends like that (an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation)... who needs enemies?

Dallas born/raise and recently moved back Black who was taught at an early age, appropriately, to COMPLY. I'm scared. Always. And I have had several occasions to have my fears reiterated.

I treat cops as easily angered, potentially violent people until they show me otherwise.

That article mentions the Eli Escobar killing, which I still remember well.

Welcome to here, I hope you keep posting.

cuz the libs would just scream Koch
ah, the "Kochtopus"

the Kochs got Murray Rothbard ousted from a few places. I'm not a fan of the Kochs.
One of the sets of figures that Changeling quoted on her domestic violence and guns thread, came from the "violence Policy Centre" which is funded through the Joyce Foundation (Obama used to be on the board)

The various "funds" and foundations crop up all over the place, and not always the cleanest places, for example the Ukraine and the current refugee crisis in Europe

There's a lovely Rothbard quote about "There are conspiracies all around, both left and right..."

I haven't got around to fact checking these figures yet, so please treat them with great scepticism. If they are correct, they show something extremely fishy going on

Bear in mind that gun technology has not changed in about fifty years, and there were equivalents of "assault rifles" and "super magnums" available from the 1900s, telescopic sights go back at least to Isaac Newton - so it isn't technology or gun ownership that has changed. SSRIs were around way before Obama, that hasn't changed

Mass shootings during different 'residents terms
Ray Gun: 11
Daddy B: 12
Slick Willy: 23
Bush the Dumber: 16
Big 0: 162

Like I say, be extremely sceptical of the figures, but if they are correct WTFH is going on and why?

Why in the world would Castile have been involved in a convenience store robbery? He had a good job for 14 years in the school system as a nutrition supervisor.

Cripes, what an awful time we are living in here in the U.S. I've got to share a really nice story I heard on MSNBC and of course, like any good story, it involves a dog.

Yesterday they interviewed a young man who was at the protest with his dog and his dad. At the end of the thing, he got separated from his dad in the crowd. His dog suddenly refused to move. They were a couple blocks away from where the shooting started. Finally, after a few minutes, the guy got his dog to move and that's when the shots started. That dog knew something bad was about to happen and stopped his person from going closer to the scene. That dog deserves a New York Strip steak.

I'm not assassinating someone's character, it's a transcript of the cop's reason for pulling them over. It is not altogether flattering for law enforcement either as it refers to a broadened nose or some such.
