Wow, so many responses! Thank you all so very much!!! I will def research Seriquel XR. Am currently on Lexapro 20 mg but I feel like it's the Xanax that's keeping me sane(ish).

I'm so glad this thread helped so many other pple with their meds questions :)

Lexapro 20mg didnt do jack for my anxiety. It is a "cleaner" drug per a Dr in the ER (because the entire left side of my face & body went numb, they thought mini stroke but was found to be anxiety that caused it) and I thought it was maybe helping a little bit but eventually gave up on it...8 times...because it honestly didnt do jack.

Seriquel XR is the first medication (after giving it an actual real try which took, id say a month or so to really stick it out), that, after a few increases, i finally felt a huge difference and the only medication that has allowed me to lower the xanax myself. First one that finally actually did something.

But thats me, all are different. Id say it is wonderful for lowering anxiety and the need for xanax.

ETA: @Smile, make sure you ask about Seriquel XR (extended release), not just seriquel, generic quetiapine (immediate release). Seriquel XR doesnt have a generic in the US and its lowest mg is 50mg.

XR is given for anxiety and a number of reason, quetiapine is given mainly for sleep (insomnia etc).

Be careful , from personal experience you keep needing more, if you're like me you can become hooked. I wish I a had an easy solution for you anxiety can be near impossible to live with over time, but the more pills the less you yourself can cope with the emotions, I send my love to you, and the reminder that you are stronger than you think
