I

Iren

I needed a medical letter to explain why I needed legal matters be dealt with more quickly as a vulnerable person in a vulnerable situation as I was removed from treatment a year ago

T2 removed me from treatment a year ago because of the legal ongoing interfering and destroying healing and also because I can no longer afford treatment because of what has continued that is related to the cause of my PTSD

T2-then also compromised our physical location and provided it to people she knew better than to given our safety plan.

T1 had transferred me to T2 quite some time prior-I had to go through the retraumatizing hell of going over everything again from the start

Both were paid-A LOT of money

I contacted them both in writing and then by phone which went to voicemails asking if they could please simply explain why this letter was being requested medically and why this is medically dangerous to do

Neither responded

I have no supports. The past year has been pure hell

Am I wrong or is this just so ethically wrong? I do not have the strength to file complaints. I just wanted the simple letter. They will both likely be called as witnesses anyway. It has triggered me even more, I think it is betrayal and the injustice

I think it is so gross to do this to a client and feel like that whole field is a bunch of con artists. Am I wrong for feeling this way? Would you?

How can not one but two t's have no ethics? Am I wrong? Am I over reacting? I am majorly symptomatic so I am looking for an outside view.

I guess I don't understand quite what you were trying to achieve from this letter as I don't understand how having a issues that require a Therapist could speed up the legal process.
It sounds to me that because neither of them are your therapist anymore, and haven't been for a year, they don't feel an obligation to write you such a recommendation and would expect you to get one from a current therapist

I know Im not understanding the whole thing but

T2-then also compromised our physical location and provided it to people she knew better than to given our safety plan.

This. My brother called my therapist and due to just HIPPA laws (in the US) they couldnt deny nor confirm that I was even a patient unless, of course, he were on my medical record there, which he isnt nor is anyone.

Therefore, if you are in the US and a therapist even stated to ANYONE that you are a patient of theres, thats a HIPPA law violation and a lawsuit.

There rest Im unsure of. Sounds like a DV situation and a safety thing from reading it.

The entire field of therapy arent just full of con artists as I got a hella great therapist and you can too!

Thanks Anep. The process involved, can move things faster if someone is in a vulnerable situation, that is what it is there for . If the therapist said i cannot be in treatment-I do not understand why it would be an issue then to just simply write a medical letter so we can move this and so I can get back to treatment ( I hope that clarified ) and no it certainly would not be with either t .

In the United States, not sure where you are, you have to pay doctors, T's etc for any involvement in a legal process you are trying to take care of. But because you are not seeing either of them, they have no obligation for you, they haven't seen you in a year, your situation now could have easily changed from when they were seeing you. They would be putting themselves on the line writing a letter for someone who isn't their patient, they would not put themselves in that position.
Also, depending on where you are in the world, in the US, pretty much anyone can become a therapist. So if one says they cannot treat you, you move onto a new one.
If they are saying you cannot be in treatment, they certainly wouldn't want to write you a letter, again because you are not a patient of theirs.

I think for such a letter to have any sway, it would need to be from someone who is involved with you currently. Do you have a GP or social worker? Are there any relevant charities you could approach for support and advice?

Who is it you are wanting to present the letter to?

One is a psychologist the other was a social worker. I try to reach out to some charitable organizations but they are not PTSD specific and I am tired of having to go over it again and again

It confuses me because the one had said if I should require further medical in the future ( because I am deemed disabled and chronic severe PTSD ) to let her know

This is in Canada. I tried a social worker through Ohip and was told I am outside of their time frames. ( This is nonsense of course ) . We do not have good health care system in Canada for anything even remotely related to mental health

Makes me just want to give up. I am very tired of trying for nothing

It's for a process that protects your rights including being disabled. How funny is that

You need to get this letter from a doctor you are currently seeing.
It confuses me because the one had said if I should require further medical in the future ( because I am deemed disabled and chronic severe PTSD ) to let her know
Was this T2 or T1? If it was T2, do you have access to funds now to resume seeing her?
If the therapist said i cannot be in treatment-I do not understand why it would be an issue then to just simply write a medical letter so we can move this and so I can get back to treatment
You are focusing on this, but it sounds like the bigger reality is that you no longer could afford to see her. If you can afford to see her again, you need to set up an appointment and resume treatment; then, she could write the letter.
But because you are not seeing either of them, they have no obligation for you, they haven't seen you in a year, your situation now could have easily changed from when they were seeing you. They would be putting themselves on the line writing a letter for someone who isn't their patient, they would not put themselves in that position.
This is correct.
It's for a process that protects your rights including being disabled.
Make sure you are explaining this clearly.

From your OP, it's very hard to understand the situation, and you've got a lot of things mixed up together. It's possible that you need to communicate more clearly with the therapist.

So: if it's true that you have money to continue, then set up an appointment with T2. If T2 tells you that she cannot have you as a client anymore, because she does not believe she was helping you, ask her to refer you to someone else; ideally, she'll give you 3 names - but one is enough to start with.

Meanwhile, if you can get a letter certifying that you have a mental illness (and therefore need certain protections/accommodations) from your general practitioner, do that. Will the court accept that, or does it need to be from a mental health professional? Are there any other requirements for the letter-writer, like, do they need to have seen you for a period of time?

It was T1 who said about coming back with regards to medical documents. That is why I asked T1

It was T2 who stopped treatment because it is all to much happening at the same time and because of physical problems related worsening. coming back when things are addressed as well was said. So that is also why I do not get, the no response as well to writing this letter

It is true that I cannot afford it anyway. I am to symptomatic and just going in circles and am screwed feels like.

There is nothing specific about who writes it. It had just made more sense to me that it be a professional in the field, with the full knowledge of everything involved

It's been quite some time. I do not want to contact them again about a referral as well because I do not think they would respond to that either it seems, and you are right realistically I could not afford that new person either

I am not sure if a GP would write this here, but you never know

It's highly unethical and probably illegal for a therapist to comment on a patient in regards to current status when he/she hasn't seen said client recently.

You're confused, very, very confused.

Your therapist said what she did because she thought you might need medical records in the future. She didn't make the offer so that she could essentially lie-----legally lie? No. She could lose her license. She can NOT comment on the necessity for speed in legal matters when she does not know your current situation. She only knows your situation a year ago which is essentially useless to comment on now as it will not help your case.

Long story short, your old therapist cannot comment on current issues even if the issue today is the same as it was a year ago, for the simple reason that she has no idea if things have stayed the same.

Find a current doc who can comment on your current situation.
