Please Help Me Im So Scared

I am currently looking for a therapist. It is alittle difficult with my insurance because I only have the cheap Obama-Care insurance and a lot of local places don't accept that. Tonight was all kinds of bad. I went in to work. I work over nights at Domino's as a delivery driver. Well my shift tonight was 5pm till 12am. That didn't end up happening. I was perfectly fine until I ate something. Then I had a HUGE panic attack that I was going to get sick and it was defiantly my appendix this time and blah blah. I tried so hard to fight it and stay at work. That did not end up happening though. I got send home and here I am. My 7 hour shift turned into about a 3 hour shift. I called my wife freaking out the whole way home. When I got home she had one of my anxiety pills for me and I took that and now I feel quite a bit better. Very tired and alittle dizzy but my attack is almost completely gone. My wife has the patients of a saint. If it wasn't for her I would have gone off the complete deep end a long time ago. I just wish I didn't do this to her all the time. I really need to find a therapist.

Have you searched the Psychology Today database?

You can limit the search for specific insurance plans, along with many other things. Every therapist isn't listed on it, but a whole lot are. Have you called your insurance company directly and asked them for help building a list of possibilities? That's also a good way to go - they will, of course, know who they accept on their plan.

Keep looking! It does take a little bit of work, and anxiety might interfere, but don't back down.

Because, while it may on some level be the same in the brain (they don't know much about the brain) - the treatment approach is not identical. In fact, it's very opposite. The depression that accompanies PTSD is often not helped by medication - because of all sorts of reasons. Whereas, MDD is almost untreatable without medication.
I didn't know that. Very interesting information. I see from the "all sorts of reasons" that it's complicated, but do you have any articles or other sources on this you could point me to?

Also, why doesn't my psychiatrist seem to know this??

I do, @sun seeker; I probably can't pull it all together til late tomorrow, but will do.

Your psychiatrist might know all this and disagree with how the data is interpreted. Depends on if they believe in the (unsubstantiated) science behind seratonin/why SSRIs are ineffective. Also depends on the context for ones specific depression type. And, on how much they are actually sharing with you about how/why they make the med choices they make.

I'll tag you again when there's more info.
