I Can't Cry!

I am a crier. Always have been. But for 3 weeks now i have been unable to cry. It is weird. It isn't like i am suddenly happy, i just can't cry. Anyone experience this before???

I have never been able to cry. Ive numbed so much and seperated myself from so much that i cant cry. The only time i could was recently but i was literally hysterical.

Maybe you've numbed stuff and now its hard to unnumb it?

I don't cry. I want to cry but I can't. Most of my life. I cry only if something dramatic happen (the death of my father for example) its so difficult not being able to cry. I understand your concern. Hope for you that that tears will come back soon when you need them.

Is this something i should discuss with my T? I am afraid she will think i am crazy for wanting to cry.

I can relate very well to that, as it takes a lot to make me cry, and when I do, it's always when I'm alone.

I think it was because we were brought up not to show any emotions, my sister is totally different to me, which is weird as we were both brought up in the same strict regime?

No she is three years older then me, we never spoke for a few years, after my divorce from my first wife.

Well, that's what I thought it was, turned out years later, after my second wife passed, that she had written a nasty letter to my sister, which I never knew about, which caused the rift?

We have been back in touch now for the last eighteen months, I've been to visit her in Holland, and she has come here with her husband, we get on great now.

I never cry. Last time is when I was kid. I'm pretty much emotional numb since I was 15yrs. I have had 4 close family members pass & no tears or feelings. My sister has bladder cancer & dont even think about it. Seen a man get hit by a car right in front of me & just walked away. My numbness is extremely bad. Sometimes wonder if my emotions will re-appear. Crying is obsolete in my book.

dont push yourself to cry

it will come again. usually you dont have a chalange to cry as you wrote yourself.

did you check with yourself what happened 3 weeks ago, whem you stoped crying?

It started when i did an exercise in therapy that involved having a conversation with my inner child.
