Great. My therapist sucked. I did trigger after l spoke to her and did end up getting very depressed. So go carefully through therapy and ask for grounding techniques. Maybe you are opening the door, it's just stuck a little bit.
 
@watundah, I started non-dominant hand writing a year ago, although many months I didn't write anything. It was overwhelming and I struggled with believing it was real.

@aut555, sorry to hear your Therapist sucked and your subsequent depression. thank you, T has been working a lot with me on grounding. maybe I will get there.
 
basically, I want to hand the book back to T and tell her it's not for me, that I don't have parts, that this entire theory is bizarre, and I am being ridiculous for listening to it.

There is no rule that says everything in that book applies to you.

Perhaps a positive way to approach all of this is to simply realise that there is something your therapist believes you can learn from this book. Just read and take in whatever works for you.
 
@BuckarooBanzai, of course. from the book, "it is important that you accept your own inner experience as it is and not try to make it fit any descriptions in this manual."

It's my own inner experience that I'm struggling with. fear is making me want to toss the book.

So glad you are here. When you are ready, you can say as little or as much as you want and people are very supportive. Hoping that you get to that next step and are able to come out of your tower. I had startle response, hypervilgent thing, fast heartbeat, increased breathing, but with time this has faded (Two years). So maybe time will help you. I was in a emotionlly abusive situation for about 15 years. This site has really help me focus and gave me clarity on ptsd symptoms. Sending compassion to you always.
