Being needed? Is only almost as good as being wanted.

For true. People hold "needed" as some gold standard. SMH. From having been there 6 different ways from Sunday? Not being needed, but still being wanted? That's true gold. You can despise something or someone, but still need them. Wanting? Whole different universe. It's adding on, instead of filling a void. So not needing said rescuer? Doesn't mean you don't get to keep them, anyway :P

I have these types of 'shadow emotions' as well. This need to fill a hole. And it feels real. Because it was real.

Keep in mind that part of PTSD are random emotions that get taken out of the closets that haven't been accessed for decades so that we can look at them and take another stab at them again. Having a whole group of people sitting with you (albeit virtually) chatting, caring, grieving with you....well, just wow! Just by reaching out you have changed that dynamic already. You found a tribe of us!

It just goes to show that there is nothing inherently 'flawed' about you. It was more about him.

Oh, and btw, I will provide the white stallion, Friday will supply the white desert sands, Ronin will be the knight, Lion will pitch the tent, Zoogal will start the fire, Angel will cook the smores and IronLady will make the tea.

Everything is covered here , this just leaves me to pitch the tents, and clean the smore skewers then. Think the rescue fantasy is universal. We all wish to be rescued. Think this site actively conveys that. This site helps rescue me from feeling tormented and confused. How about a hot air balloon to take you up away from everything and to help you see the big picture. You will get better, you will be rescued as your clarity improves and healing moves forward. Sending compassion.

As a little girl i used to dream about being rescued and even now all i want is someone to come along throw me over their shoulder and take me away. It doesnt help my feeling of loneliness because they have never come and the adult in me knows they wont.

Me too! I had a character in a book I imagined being fixed or saved or comforted, a series by Jonathan Kellerman, who wrote a murder-mystery-solving PhD character "Alex Delaware". In the first

"When the Bough Breaks" (sorry I tried to make a link but failed : ( Dr. Delaware is able to communicate with a troubled 7 year old girl, is very comforting - and solves a crime too! Alex Delaware specialized in childhood psychology and is like Superman for young, abused kids.

There's a whole "Alex Delaware" series - I think like 20 or more books by now; the first ones were in the '80s. It sounds terribly dark, and they are murder mysteries, but they really are fun reads. You get the doctor, his romantic relationship, his cop friend, etc. . Jonathan Kellerman is still going strong but I think his first few are the best.

I recommend that first one, and the next two in the series: "Blood Test" "Over the Edge", and written later was "The Devil's Waltz", I think is my favorite because it was the first one I read.

Do I make ANY sense? It is late I should be sleeping. I hope some of this helps. Lonely days are terrible. But I did fantasize about Alex Delaware appearing to talk to me and fix me right up! Maybe one of the books could be a good lonely-day distraction. After all, the kids are rescued, and pretty happy endings - not such a bad thing to immerse yourself into such a story if you can.
