As I have said in my prior post, my PTSD is from accumulative incidents that I have heard over the phone, radio and seen in person being in Law Enforcement.

were you able to catch the perpetrators of this crime and bring them to trial ?

good luck! Great job realizing that it is just too much and if you are taking it out on your family then you are making the right decision in following a different career path. I am a nurse and cannot do that anymore either due to the ptsd and a severe back injury, it is scary when it is the only thing you know. I understand that too, have been involved in some type, worked as a personal support worker for two years through nursing school and graduated in 1994 and I was 22 when I finished. It is the only thing I know...but it is a stressful position too, depending on what area you are in. So again, good luck...I hope things work out well for you!

I'm really disturbed just from reading that.

On the one hand, I'm thinking, get the hell out, that's a terrible job. At the same time, I should say thank you for putting up with all that. Any psychological damage you may have caused yourself by having that job has prevented PTSD for a lot of other people.

Most of my incidents are suicides that occurred in front of me or over the phone, while I was talking to the person. A few incidents are from other officers getting killed in the line of duty while I was at work as well.
