Thats why I don't scroll down I just go to the tab and select forums right away

Interesting... I feel, these pictures do represent (some of) the possible sources / causes of PTSD in a clear and unmistakable way. Could you explain, what exactly you mean, when you write, that they're "not very welcoming" @7Cs?

It's because for a lot of people they are triggers.

I noticed the site redesign @7Cs but I didn't even think of that (severe emotional abuse growing up but no other types of trauma, so images don't tend to be triggers for me). But I think you're absolutely right, they seem like the opposite of what would help people feel comfortable here.

Unfortunately for me they re front and center... no way to not see them. :(
I do go directly to the tab to select forums but I'm going to have to make a bookmark directly to the forums though and hopefully I'll be able to bypass them.

As Lady said, they are quite triggering.
I showed them to my 18 year old daughter and even she was shocked that they're the main images on a support website like this.

My primary trauma is abandonment/ psychological abuse but I've seen enough violence throughout my life to be very sensitive to images like those. Had they been there when I 1st found this site I may never have made it past that 1st page. I guess it depends on my moods though.

Hopefully they get changed.

This is a trigger warning free site. In my opinion, if I can click off the page or save the forum as a bookmark and avoid the homepage all together, I don't call that a trigger. A trigger isn't just something upsetting, in my opinion, but that triggers something. Like a tailspin for instance. Its the same reason I will never call something on tv triggering as I can change the channel. In my opinion, trigger is a specific something. Not just an upset. It can be a stressor but not a trigger in my opinion.

I certianly don't see it unwelcoming. It represents PTSD much better in my opinion. Not just combat. And that's awesome in my opinion! Finally, a site or organization that doesn't require you be a veteran to have or recongize that you have PTSD. A HUGE slammed door back to back to back when searching for help with a Service Dog. No where in the DSM does it say combat required but everyone seems to have that regulation. It is refreshing to me to see that I am in a site where I am not alone.

Just my opinions. Take it or leave it. I will say that those sorts of images are all over the net.

For as many people that might be upset by such images, there are just as many people who benefit from seeing their trauma represented and validated.

I appreciate folks' concerns, but if we can't talk openly and honestly about the causes of PTSD, then what is the point?

As @CrowFeather mentioned, it's very easy to bookmark directly to the forums - My PTSD Forum.

Support has nothing to do with shielding or protecting - if anything, it's to do with shedding light on all sorts of hidden problems.
Hopefully they get changed.
I don't expect that will be happening; but I sincerely hope that going directly to the forums page is a useful way for you to navigate your own journey, here.

We are all in different places - and there will never be one approach that is right for all.
