Flashback Curiosity

This is going to sound like an odd question but I've been wondering~

If a person is drugged when they experience a traumatic event, would they feel the drug during a flashback?

I did.

To the point I'd swear that exposure is current / the re-experiencing got very damned physical, multi-sensory wise.

I kind of figured it would be re-experiencing and I appreciate your response.

I'm still curious about other peoples experience. Has anyone ever experienced a chemical release? maybe not caused by drugs but the flashback itself? If a person flashbacks onto a repressed memory how do they know it isn't a hallucination? would the brain react during the flashback the same way it did during the initial trauma? .

I have a memory (non traumatic) of being under the influence of pot, and getting really excited about the election coverage. That unnaturally intense craving echoes through my feelings when I remember it. Traumatic memories are more intense versions of normal memories, and so they come bundled with all of the sensations that were happening at the time.

Sometimes, it can be very hard to tell the difference between a flashback (or other dissociative event) and a hallucination. Just because a memory is clear and vivid, doesn't make it perfectly accurate, either. Therapists help with this stuff.

Yeah~ without a therapist I wouldn't have these questions. She mentioned dissociation but I mentioned hypnosis. She said she didn't believe in it but I trusted myself more than her. Its been a few years but every now and again~ I'd like to understand.
