Brainspotting

I started brainspotting around 7months ago. Does anyone else have experience with this?
My experience sounds nothing like what I have read. That makes me feel even more flawed. When I read about it, it sounds like people feel immediate relief. I leave feeling heightened at about 7- 9 usually.
I do feel some difference in myself overall, I feel more confident around groups of people, it's easier for me to talk around people I know. But triggers still happen, anxiety and depression are still present.
 
@Slopokidog I have very limited knowledge of brainspotting; I can only share this tidbit - I've been told that the procedure varies greatly on a case-by-case basis and there's always a difference with each client, each therapist, and each pairing. ?

That's not terribly helpful, I know, but I see no one responded - sometimes this happens.

So, here I will tell you - Welcome to the boards, I hope you have a chance to browse the site, and keep posting/responding around the forum! It is nice to have new people joining in. :)

Maybe you could write a post in the "Introductions" forum.
You sound like you're very committed to improving your life and that is a great thing! I'm sorry I don't have anything more specific to say on this particular topic.
 
Been using this in session for a decade. I still have anxiety issues but it's helped me tackle deep trauma in session and I find I use it more out of session. I always find two brainspots. One for the negative or anxious feelings. One grounding brainspot. T spends the last 15 minutes with me on the grounding spot and with reconnecting with her before I leave. Sometimes I'm still off the charts but more than not I'm safe to drive. If I'm still heightened, I'll walk around the block or sit in my car till my nervous system calms down.

We don't do that, well maybe, kind of. But agree basically says, spend some time with the music at the end. Then she checks on with me, we talk a little about what feelings came up etc...
 
Your therapist and mine must be doing different techniques. We never stop communicating. And she combines Somatic Experiencing with the brainspotting. Without the eye to eye contact and emotional connection at the end, I'd be a basket case.

All she says towards the end,is, you have some time, let me know when your ready to take down the pointer. Which is never,in a way , because I'm always so heightened, and can't bring myself down.
 
In my experience, sounds like she's not doing here job. She should be bringing you down. Have you explained about the anxiety and heightened state?
