What Are You Grateful For Today?

@Tornadic Thoughts could I ask btw what do you eat for protein sources? Also, I never crave grains, pasta or bread, and I'm allergic to many of them- bran, oats, flax, etc- pretty much anything that says 'multigrain', and I'm not a big fan of beans.. :sorry: The only thing I can think of left is cheese, nuts and lentils for protein, and milk/ veggies/ fruit. And cake lol. :)

(Couldn't PM. PS- thank you! I actually crave all meat, fish etc, but starting to feel badly eating animals. :( )

Sure thing.

I love lentils, chick peas, black beans, split green peas, mung beans, mung bean sprouts, mung bean noodles, hemp hearts, flax seed as an egg replacement when baking, chia seeds in pudding-like mixtures, dark leafy greens that are pretty high in omega 3s like arugula, spinach, kale, and even one that grows as a "weed" in many yards named purslane.

I make a really tasty taco "meat", that can be adapted to fit any recipe that uses ground meat based on your seasoning choices, by using soaked English walnuts, smoked paprika, liquid amino soy sauce replacement, and several other spices that has satisfied every meat lover who's tasted it thus far, and I make cheese replacements using soaked raw cashews every once in a while. Again, those are more like indulgences rather than a regular part of the menu.

There's also some decent vegan meat options in the refrigerator/freezer aisle by Gardein (sp?) and hot dogs and Italian vegan sausage-like substances and chorizo and such, but they're pretty pricey and pretty highly processed, so it's definitely only a once in a while thing, usually when they go on sale.

Nut butters with celery or with bananas is another favorite. Mushrooms!!! Especially portobella caps on the grill or in the oven. Mmmmmmmm... Many veggies contain a fair amount of protein, too. Lots of charts available for easy reference. My brain likes nice visual aids.

Not protein related, but I like to make "zoodles" with zucchini and other veggies using a spiral slicer. Spaghetti squash is another good pasta replacement. So much nurturing yumminess to explore in the plant world, so little time. lol

Hope that helps. :)

I'm grateful to have been asked a food question. One of my favorite subjects, for sure!! lol
