Do you take an antidepressant?

I've been @SheilaKathy prescribed almost every anti-depressant known to man, and so many unnecessary (was originally misdiagnosed w/bi-polar) mood-stabilizers, and anti-psychotic drugs...geez. It's a wonder that my brain isn't completely fried...and the anti-depressants never fully lifted the depression. The only thing that works for me is my light box. Without it, I probably wouldn't be here - for the severe depression at times becomes so crippling in the late fall/winter months. And to my knowledge while utilizing my light box there have been no residual negative side effects. It was costly to purchase though. I was represented by a state lawyer who forced medicaid to pay for it - we won the court case - yet medicaid still refused to pay for the light box. And, I can only stand to be in front of light box for brief periods at a time each day, or I experience feeling a bit hyper to some degree. I do not know how I'll do with light box since I still am experiencing residual light eye sensitivity due to over-usage of EMDR cascading light machine. Hopefully, this light sensitivity issue will not affect my utilizing my light box in late fall/early winter @SheilaKathy.

Wondering how I'll do post 16 sessions EMDR; in the late fall/early winter months re depression. I hope the EMDR Therapy will help the extreme depression I've struggled with for so many years during the long sun less winter days/months. I eat pretty healthily however @Tornadic Thoughts is my go-to role model on healthy eating. She eats very healthily and takes such good care of her body/digestive system, overall health which in baby steps only is what I am striving to emulate, for she really takes very good care not to put in, or smell, touch, etc. anything that is toxic to her body. She posted the video "What The Health" and you can find it by typing this into your URL; and this video is about what's in our food, drink, etc. And, although I'm still unwilling as of yet to give up dairy and chicken-meat (rare occasion beef/pork), and I don't know if Stevia is artificial sweetener - I use this, I still now am eating much healthier after watching above-referenced video @SheilaKathy. Baby steps...

I don't drink any sugary drinks (no sugar period), no coffees, no caffeine anything, etc. I drink in the summer lots of purified water, and lots of cold Chickory Root drinks (w/vanilla extract) and Stevia (from ground Chickory Root from local health food store), and in the cooler/cold months I drink a lot of hot Chickory Root drinks (aides in digestion, among other health benefits). I truly believe as so does @Tornadic Thoughts that we truly are what we eat. And that what we unhealthily eat affects our moods, body inflammation (aches and pains); skin, digestion, and all facets of our overall health and well-being. And what I eat has and continues to exacerbate my cptsd as well as other physiological issues...so I am slowly turning this locomotive (bad eating habits) and now am doing a slow but steady turn around and am steadily baby steps changing my eating habits) 180 degree turn and am slowly but steadily changing from horrible unhealthy food habits to more healthier ones. Hope this helps. (Hugs!)

Speaking of messing up hormones...many things screw with our endocrine system BIG TIME...
I use unscented laundry detergent, and I try to stay away from artificial things as much as possible too, but you are right, there seems to be no help from our professionals on this issue. In point, I have to drink a Sports Drink, due to having had low blood sodium all my adult life. I am trying to stay away from sugar, so I drink ZERO, which has in it an artificial sweetener. If I don't drink a bottle of this stuff and a bottle the size of it of water per day, I end up in the ER after having passed out somewhere or I end up DEAD, because I live alone. There is no naturally sweetened Sports Drink available. No Sports Drinks come with stevia, which is the ONLY natural sweetener that is known to man. So I am stuck drinking this stuff every day, probably for the rest of my life. It is either that, or G2 which has some sugar in it and some artificial sweetener or Gatorade with tons of sugar and calories. I am on a medicine that causes weight gain, so I can't do THAT to myself.

Low dose Abilify 15 mgs and 150 mgs of Wellbutrin.

Seem to help and has not increased any suicidal ideations.

Excuse my language but my sleep is for sh*t. I take Prazosin for PTSD nightmares and it helps with that but, I often have difficulty getting to sleep and staying asleep. I am prescribed 75 mgs of trazadone but I rarely take it because of the hangover effect it has on me the morning after.

Also, I have several chronic illnesses so I am on a lot of meds, but I am trying to keep the psyche meds to a minimum. Hope this helps somehow.

I sometimes wonder if my Bipolar diagnosis is even correct or not. I have no clue. All I know is that the medicines that they prescribe for it seem to help me sleep, so I don't rock the boat and ask any questions. Sleep is more valuable than a 100% accurate diagnosis. They do recognize that I have PTSD, that has been diagnosed, and now that CPTSD is official, I suppose they will diagnose me with that, seeing as they know all about my childhood molestation and my adult rape. Probably at my next evaluation, I might remind them of both issues, so they can update my diagnosis.

Try soaking a half a banana in boiling water for 5 mins (with the peal on) and then drink the liquid and eat the banana (no peal). Eating the banana is gross, but this helps you fall asleep and stay asleep, as it increases your potassium and magnesium, both of which are needed for good sleep. Taking tablets is not as good, my nurse best friend told me. (Dr. recommended banana). Nurse says that liquids are much better and faster absorbed by our digestive system than tablets are. So do this and get back to me. It has done wonders for my sleep! I used to have the same problems that you do, but now I go to bed earlier and do this banana thing and I sleep like a baby!

I make this for my mom instead of having her drink store bought electrolyte drinks:

I will def give this a try, thank you so much!!!
Let me know how it goes, OK? I will be curious if it can help all of us on this website, because so many of us have had sleep problems or are having them currently! I am just so blessed that my Dr. told me about this. I think it is an old time remedy, but I am not sure.

I did not know that cPTSD is official, where can I find more information on this please?

Thanks,...
There was an announcement or article or something on this website about it somewhere, but I forget where it is now. Try out the search option above.

If you find it, post the link here so everyone can see it, I bet others don't know either!
