Thread Ban

After reading through the history of some members, I have concluded and given the following four thread ban permissions based on my judgement for impartiality as much as possible towards other members of this website.

Jimmy, Jennymac, Sarg and JarHed all have threadban added to their permissions.

None of them need to use it, they simply have it. They can use it if needed and if they choose to, in order to shutdown a singular person, or persons, within a thread IF they're getting out of hand and their comments are causing considerable issue.

A threadban allows them to temporarily ban a person from a thread up-to 21 days, using defined periods of 1,3,7, 14 or 21 days.

At the end of the period the system will automatically remove the ban from the persons account upon which they have hopefully cooled down and can continue onwards, without getting further argumentative, aggressive, bullying, so forth, beyond normal military banter and poking that we all know and have been conditioned within our military careers.

My opinion is this is a very positive direction for this ever-growing forum. Good call Anthony. (y)

Ok... I didn't implement the permissions correctly, and am now fixing so the above have the permissions.

Please be aware that it will take members with thread ban a little time to get a good system of balance, between not over-stepping with it, or not using it where needed.

Banter, insults and such are pretty much normal veteran talk... and working out when someone is serious versus banter and joking insults, will be the key.

If Jimmy and I were talking about something, we could say get f*cked, or f*ck-off mate, or go f*ck yourself, all of which is joking banter, which is all perfectly acceptable.

Threadban should only be rarely used to close down specific members who get argumentative / bullying to the point beyond joking or banter. This is a veteran community after all, not a politically correct social club.

The four above have now also been given additional abilities to ban known spammers (spouses, advertising and trolls) as well as lock / unlock entire threads to cease issues if they arise.

I wish more www sites would adopt this procedure. As far as the 4 you've chosen, they've always shown good judgement and patience in dealing with posts. Excellent decision.

Yeah but the last ban spoilt my fun.

I was realy getting into being nice for a change.

Now i`ll never know what happens when she tells her fella to stop talking to Looser Single Women

Good choice, Anthony. Having good mods is essential for a good forum. Keeps from death by boredom or anger.
