Well just got DX with PTSD in the last 30 days. been out since 2006.

serviced 2001-2006 (Joined 5 days before 911) Navy Corpsman HM3 (FMF), 3 deployments 2003, 2004-2005, 2005-2006, all in a combat zone. Two with Marine unites. I was an SSTP corpsman so I only had to treat the very severely wounded and nothing but. did not know I had any issues until I had a "trigger" event on Sep 9th and its been all downhill from there.

Medicated at this time just to be able to manage life. Without the meds I am a wreck. Things are very difficult right now for me.

Family issues, realizing I am heading for a divorce in all of this. etc..

Things suck right now but I know they will get better.... I hope they get better.

Welcome home. Check out the media section. You will find plenty of us here that share your pain and lived through it, some are still dealing with the toughest of times. There is always hope and just like the airplane safety briefing, you can't help your family until you take care of yourself. Focus on the small things first because you can count on the fact that time will pass and you will be in a different situation.

I was talking to a buddy of mine and used the analogy that I am my own flight line. I have to triage myself now. Just like back them... if you could not handle it or could not do exactly like I said you could GTFO my flight line.

Like one of my corporals used to say "when doc O says GTFO, move! If ya dont your gonna get a boot to the ass or the face depending on what way your moving slow!"

I gotta take care of me now and if you cant be on board with that... ya gotta go!

That attitude will go along way when dealing with the beast. Lot of folks here from your war all dealing with life one day at a time. It took me 40+ years to untangle the shit between my ears - just about the time I think I get it IT gets me again. We mange the beast and lean on each other when the it gets the best of us. Lot's of stuff to read and chat about therapy, Med's, alternative solutions and best of all laughter, yep, we do that to on occasion.

You are among brothers and sisters here. You may at times feel like you are in a very dark place with no light at the end of the tunnel, but if you keep putting one foot in front of the other you will eventually see the light and it will get bigger and brighter.
