Phase 3 Program: MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy for PTSD

According to the Phase 2 data, 68% of those who participated in a 3-day MDMA assisted intensive with a trauma-trained therapist experienced enough remission of PTSD to no longer qualify as having PTSD. This treatment was targeted towards those with severe, chronic PTSD, with average suffering duration of 17 plus years.

I am not very good at interpretation of studies, as that was not my area in my degrees. I know there was a placebo group, so 68% is something I'm unclear about. I'm not certain if 68% of all participants or if 68% of those who received the MDMA (not placebo) is the figure being looked at for effectiveness. I'm assuming the later, because if controls were in place, then we could be looking a higher effectiveness rate, which would be huge. Over half in 3-days is already huge.

Please keep in mind that the participants cannot suffer from addiction in order to participate or receive this treatment, which I find frustrating because many PTSD sufferers may also suffer from co-morbid addiction problems. They might not be able to find relief in this way. Non-drug solutions are strongly needed for the many sufferers vulnerable to addiction.

I just saw this come through a newsletter in my office and was seriously excited. I've read a few things on this, including trauma therapists who are currently using MDMA (yes, illegally) in their practices because of the results they were seeing (and reading an article on WaPo, it seems like the therapy they're testing is the same I read about - a dose followed by an 8 hour intensive therapy session with one or more specially trained trauma therapists, for 3 sessions).

I'm glad the FDA approved the phase 3 trials finally. From what I've read, this looks so promising.

It's not legal here but I've used it twice in small doses eked out over 48 hours and have been able to think clearly and rationally about subjects I can't normally even let my brain approach and learnt lessons that have stayed with me and I have used in life so I would defo try it t again but there were no sexual breakthroughs which is what I think my husband was hoping for that part of me stayed completely shut down.

Yes. There is no doubt about it, this drug has the greatest potential of anything that I have seen ou...
I wish it was legal right now. It is hard to think "someday" it may be prescribed. I am 64 and would love to find relief before leaving this planet. I have read a lot regarding this and know of a personal experience to validate it. It seems to me it will be a miracle if legalized. It may become legalized in some countries, I imagine.
