Witch Doctor,
Ususally a traditional healer, but used in the broadest sense, it can be used to refer disparagingly anyone who uses a different paradigm of medicine to the mainstream western physicalist and chemicalist paradigm.

Their range of activity often extends far into such areas as social interactions and success (or lack of) in work, love etc

Stethescope
an Item of ceremonial regalia, often worn in association with ceremonial robes in connection with the performance of arcane ceremonies and rituals,

In this sense it is directly comparable to Priestly and Masonic regalia and dress, in signifying the wearer as someone who has undergone innitiation rites and who now holds a position of rank in a mystical fraternal society,

The rituals which these regalia are used within, often involve forms of lanuage which is un intelligable to the un initiated, and reference to highly stylised diagrams which hold special meaning to the initiated, for example; depictions of men nailed to crosses for christian priests, squares compasses and architectural features for freemasons, and diagrams of synapses and neuro-transmitters for wearers of stethescopes.

Various odours may also be used in these rituals and sacrifices performed, for exaample the burning of incense, mopping the floor with phenol, and the symbolic exchange of blood...

Notes
An excuse for a practitioner not to look at or not to see or hear what is in front of them.

Fictional example, drawn from N. N. Taleb's "The Black Swan":
A quant need, and an overweight wide boy with thick hairy fingers and a brooklyn accent, are asked to estimate the odds of the next toss of a fair coin being heads. The previous 99 have all yielded tails.

Nerd: it's a fair coin, so 50:50

Wideboy: About 1%

Nerd: did you not hear the question, it's a fair coin, so it has to be 50:50

Wideboy: What are the odds of a fair coin gcoming up tails 99 times in a row? I'm going on what I see: odds of the next throw being heads are about 1%
