So let me start off by explaining that I work part-time at a grocery store as a cashier and supervisor. There is a customer that shops there regularly. He always likes to give the cashiers a hard time.
One day he told me he shouldn't have to pay tax because he is a vet. He then went on to say that I have no idea what he has gone through, what he deals with now, etc. (I actually thought it was a coincidence that he was talking to me about not understanding how hard it is to deal with PTSD).
Anyway, he came through today and saw that a sale was over a couple days ago for something he had wanted to buy. He came through the cash, yelled at the cashier (making the poor girl cry) and demanded to see the store manager. I stepped in to help. He told me that because he's a vet he should be allowed to have this at the sale price! I couldn't believe it!
After all the whining to the store manager he ended up getting it. I couldn't believe it!
Another customer who heard the conversation turned to me and said "If he were really a vet, he wouldn't be playing it up like that. That's extremely disrespectful. And if, in fact, he is a vet, he was probably hardly involved."
Now, I'm not making assumptions here and I'm not trying to offend anyone. I am just wondering what anyone else thinks about this. I think this is more disrespectful to veterans than anything. Its along the same lines as someone abusing welfare. :naughty:
I felt like saying to the man, if things worked that way then I'd get everything the way I want it as well because I've been abused for most of my life and I suffer from C-PTSD!
