Dolphins, interesting. I would think other animals would be more therapeutic but whatever works I guess.

They are fun to have. I don't consider most of mine pets, they are livestock. There are some that I will let live out their lives into old age they are so awesome. Some have personality some don't.

I've gone swimming with dolphins. To connect with an animal on that level, to interact and touch and be responded to in such an intense way... I can easily see therapeutic value. I did it 12.5 years ago and I still get an emotional high when I think about it. I can't say exactly what was so different with them VS. Other animals (I rehab wildlife and bottle raise orphans), but there was SOMETHING special there.

My chickens make me happy

I love my chickens! All of my flock have personalities. If they don't we sell them. We keep them as pets, and they pay for themselves with egg sales. My Brahma hen is the flock nurse, and cares for chicks who are hurt, my 2 Polish hens help me weed my flower beds out front, Doris is the flock leader and my first hen, it goes on and on. I never knew chickens had such wonderful personalities until I got my first chicks.

Right now I have 17 not long ago I had 32. ( Several were meat birds. Dumbest animals on the planet) anyway I. Love. My rooster. He's freaking awesome. I have too many to give details on but he's my favorite.
