Going off all of my meds

Due to a finacial difficulty with a too expensive co pay. for my insurance. unfortunately i am falling through the cracks on this one. I just found out about the expensive co pay and in the process of applying for financial assistance to be able to use my coverage and I am completely stopped unless they can help me to pay off this co pay. Meanwhile I also just found out that it takes around forty five days to process my application. I can get none of my meds refilled save one that if I go to a pharmacy I can ask for a one time free refill and I am saving it for my blood pressure medication. Currently I am going off my Effexor because I am almost out.

Next week it is going to run out completely and I am very afraid because I have heard this is a horrible one to go off of. Today when I got up to get busy around my home I got a physical rush where I suddenly felt very good and very alive and for the last two hours my mind has completely cleared and I am thinking so much better and suddenly remembering things that happened a year ago that I had completely forgotten about.

I have to go off all of my meds in the next two months and I have been really dreading going through the withdrawal process this way as I would prefer to taper off.

If you have gone off meds did your brain begin to function better. Did you feel better?

Make sure you taper off Effexor. It can be hell to come off of and make you feel really sick.

Thanks Eve, I am screwed. I only have three left. I have managed to taper off of one though. I just found out too late and it was a reality shock for me.

I did this 18 months ago and for me it was about grinding it out. I had the brain zaps and everything but just continued on. For sure taper with Effexor if you are able.

Talk with your doctor @Rain. Some meds are potentially lethal to cold turkey. Effexor is one of them. Sometimes they’ll be able to get you samples, or subsidized... If nothing else, you can be hospitalized for a medical taper.

I'm with @Friday. Call your doctor. All of your doctors if you have to. Most doctors have samples on hand or can get them from pharmaceutical rep's.

I know, I'm worried for you too. If you have to. Go to the hospital to taper off your medicine. Be careful.

Yes, but if all fails, go to the ER or urgent care if you have that near you. And don't afraid to call an ambulance if you don't feel able to drive or have no one to drive you there.

I tapered off Ativan as carefully as possible almost two years ago, and I was left with constant heart palpitations, for which I've been taking Inderal ever since.
