I am in full support of the ideals that founded the movement: working to stop sexual violence against women. But that's really all I have any right to get involved with.

That's partly why a lot of male sexual assault/abuse victims don't report the crime; about 1 in 4...

I agree about the men thing. I don't agree with females being unable to be violent in that way.
There was a 12 year old girl back in '92 sodomized, tortured and set on fire by three other teenage girls.

I don't agree with it either, because it's very possible to sexually assault a person of any gender through psychological/emotional means. You don't need penetration to violate someone's mind... and that's where a lot of trafficking, DV, and SA survivors, start to understand the catch-22 behind "proving a negative".

All humans are born with the same proclivities for good and harm, some just choose different ones. However, communication is key to resolving any problems, great or small, and there is so much that needs to be communicated but isn't. The "whys" doesn't matter, they're just the symptoms of the problem itself.

Which brings the question full-circle: how do you fight something that is only defined in the eye of a third-party?

How do you keep the #metoo movement from turning into the very monster it's currently fighting, when the celebrities running the movement have turned on their own in the past?

I’ve been online long enough to not believe everyone’s sad story about being the victim of false accusations. It happens often enough where you get perpetrators who come on sites like this trying to clear their name and claim to be the victim when they are anything but.

Congrats. Now mind telling me what my real name is, so I know what name I'm supposedly trying to clear? As long as you have been here at myptsd you have made it a point to be caustic towards me when you seem to have a chance. I have no idea why. If you have any accusations, tell admin. That is something they deal with, not you.

I agree that you can mess someone’s mind up completely without pure psychological abuse.

But can we go easy on the rhetoric: you actually do have to penetrate someone to sexually assault them. Psychological abuse and sexual assault are two very different evils.

This really isn't true. Unless you know a good number of people who work in that industry personally, and you know this first hand...then, I suppose there's nothing I can say. But if you don't, and you're just generalizing about what "hollywood" is or isn't - I'll say, just stop. It's not the first comment like this you've made in the thread, and it's an incredibly uninformed point of view.

This is correct. I'm not sure I see you being accused, @cactus_jack - but I do understand how you could read @EveHarrington's comments that way. I'd like both of you to put the other on ignore, if that's what it takes to stop this back-and-forth. Temp thread bans issued, meanwhile.

The "Ignore" button is a great way to keep from getting into fights. It sucks to have to do it, @cactus_jack , but bans aren't a great alternative.

When in doubt, use it.
