Well trapped, welcome to the North East......You will soon be an old pro at snow, dealing with it, dressing for it, and being cold and sick of it......

Yes, it can be very beautiful, when it sticks to everything and looks like winter wonderland, but unfortunately that doesn't last long...

So, enjoy this, as a new comer to the North East.......

We've got two feet on the ground, which is more than usual by a longshot! I had an icicle on my roof two feet long, too. Now that I'm digging out and the tree branches are falling, I'm sort of over it

Trapped...welcome to Boston! I'm a little west of the city and we've got about 8 inches so far and it's still snowing.

Sorry about your friend and the argument :(

Snow In The Ocean State

Hi Everyone

Especially to those in Boston, I'm about an hour south and am snowed in too! The weather reporters say it is the most snow fall in a single day in December. Imagine if it had happened on a Monday morning, and what the commute into Boston would be like! NIGHTMARE.

I'm glad I don't commute into Boston anymore like I once did.

I guess we're going to have a white Christmas afterall. Don't mind a white Christmas, just wish it would disappear after New Year's day for the remainder of the winter. That would be perfect.

How am I going to train for the Boston Marathon with all of this snow?

Haha - we all seem to have our own agenda as to exactly when we want it to snow, when we want it to stop, and where we want to be, should it snow!!!

I'm in south west England, and it's snowing quite heavily here at the moment. I don't like the snow! I hate going out in the snow. . . . . .but on a very selfish note, it could put a positive spin on my Christmas! ....

For me, the snow has arrived too early! I want to be able to safely travel to my parents house on Wednesday night. Then for it to snow heavily all day Christmas eve, and for me to be snowed in, at their house, so I can't possibly make it in to work on Chrismas day!!

If anyone could arrange that for me, I'd be eternally grateful!!

Shoka- you're training for the Boston Marathon too? I'm contemplating it... I went for a short 3 mile run in the snow this morning, and again tonight, and it was SO FUN to run in the snow! No reason at all that you have to stop training! ;)

Kers- Icicles really exist? WOW! I want to see one now!

I built my first real successful snowman today! It was almost as tall as I am! And my arms couldn't even reach all the way around his head, let alone his body!

Things with my friend still aren't patched up, but I have plenty new friends here near Boston that I had a BLAST with today going to pilates and playing in the snow and all kinds of other fun stuff! I don't think I have ever had such an active social life as I do here! I'm REALLY hoping it snows on Christmas- that'd be SOOO cool! Even better if it started snowing on Christmas Eve, since I *might* get to go carolling with some people, and it would be so fun to get to go caroling with it snowing outside!

I've also been fascinated by how POWDERY and light and fluffy the snow is! Oh... and at the fact that you can actually see snowflakes! I thought it was all made up that snowflakes actually are shapped like they are!

What does getting snowed in mean? Like, you can't actually leave your house? How much snow does that take? It must be a lot! What do people do if they get snowed in but are supposed to work or have a therapy appointment or some other obligation?

What does getting snowed in mean?

In the south it means there was a snowflake, lol. We wuss out fast! We have two feet, which is nothing to Northerners, but it's shut everything down--no schools, government, etc. because the plows have a hard time getting to everyone and nobody's got snow tires or anything.

I'm hoping to get out of the house by Tuesday or Wednesday!

I hear there is another storm brewing for my area - supposed to hit Christmas Eve when i will be on the road! :( I'm hoping it holds off until I reach my brother's house.

My sister had 5 feet of snow dumped on her town last week, she was snowbound - lucky her workplace has such a policy! We still only have a foot on the ground, I'm happy with it for now!

Enjoy!

Manchester; England has 4 inches of snow atm :) - and that is alot for us we usually just get a sprinkling like icing sugar

Oh Kers..!!! Your enthusiasm almost makes me like the snow again! Here in the North (lol...soooooo North in Southern Ontario) we get snowed in a few times a winter and, yes, it does take fair amount to get us to stay home here. Two winters ago we had a crazy storm that sent down over four feet. I literally could not open my door = snowed IN! (yay!)

The icicles are amazing too, especially in late winter. Ice storms are no fun on the roads but I've got to say, I don't think there is anything quite so beautiful as waking up in the morning to the world coated in a layer of ice. Everything sparkles...quite breath taking.

You keep enjoying that lovely snow.

I fell on ice while running a couple days ago- have some pretty nasty bruises as a result from it... but it was SO COOL at the same time! haha... I couldn't believe there was actually ice on the ground! There is still a bit of snow around, but most of it melted and washed away in the rain we had the other day. It was snowing and raining at the same time for a while- weirdest but coolest thing I've ever seen. I do still want it to snow again- I think we are supposed to get more this weekend! I'm really hoping this time I will get a chance to help shovel out snow... it looks like a lot of fun!

How Is The Weather In Your Neighborhood?

Good morning! (even if it's afternoon) :hello:

Here is semi-rural MA we have about 6 inches of snow, but the bitter cold has gone for a while. It's in the 30's today with more snow expected tomorrow.

The snow is lining all the limbs of leafless tress and making the evergreens look like Xmas cards. Very pretty.

It's just the right amount of snow for my little dog who loves snow. She loves eating it, rubbing her face in it and running in it.

How's the weather in your neighborhood?
