Speaking of sperm... OMFG :woot:
https://www.technologyreview.com/s/...ith-drugs-could-target-gynecological-cancers/

And heeeeres the “duh” moment :shifty: They’re testing this on cervical cancers... but the fact of the matter is sperm can live for up to a few days in almost any part of the body. Which we know, because they do. There’s a gap between the Fallopian tubes & the ovaries, which leads to... the rest of the body (okay, technically one of a few different blocked off cavities, but they aren’t that different from each other. Lots of interstitial space and lymph). Which poor lost sperm swim cheerful into until they run out of their packed lunches, starve, and die. At which point the lymphatic system clears them. So, if this is successful? As it appears to be? There’s really no reason for SuperSperm! <insert theme music here> to be used to target cancer cells in other parts of the body.

DITTO there are similar studies which instead of armoring sperm in magnetic knight suits to drag and drop, altering their chem structure (similar to how we alter bacteria to produce vitamins and minerals for our supplements) could have them seek & destroy cancerous cells all on their itty bitty lonesome.

Living in the future, folks!

(Just try and console the ones who could have cured cancer, but didn’t, with a tissue instead of a sock? Seriously. Let them dry their tears on something I don’t -start to- pick up to put in the wash.)

Lol, that's awesome and so weird at the same time!

I've heard of similar things being done with viruses! I don't know enough to compare them, though

What a way to cure cancer though! Men would probably be more comfortable donating sperm to save lives? :D

People. Are. Awesome.

'Sea Nomads' Are First Known Humans Genetically Adapted to Diving -
National Geographic https://apple.news/ApiA8J1i2TViQ5hJBBGQJKQ
Most people can hold their breath underwater for a few seconds, some for a few minutes. But a group of people called the Bajau takes free diving to the extreme, staying underwater for as long as 13 minutes at depths of around 200 feet. These nomadic people live in waters winding through the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, where they dive to hunt for fish or search for natural elements that can be used in crafts.

Woo hoo! After much searching I finally located my pins, and I just finished pointing my first specimen of the year! :joyful: It's a mound-building ant, most likely a Formica species, but I'll confirm that after I sleep. Then I can bust out the microscope and have some real fun. I went back out the other day and measured the mound where I collected it. The ant is only about 5mm long, but the mound that they built is approximately four and a half feet across at the base. Not quite as impressive as the picture I found of one in Finland that was taller than the man standing next to it, but still an amazing accomplishment for such tiny creatures. :geek:
