all my life I have been hypersensitive to the suffering of others so much so it developed into anxiety and OCD given my fragile nerves and being, around 2016 I went on Lexapro as I felt like CPTSD was developing even though I believe I was misdiagnosed as having ADHD which is possible idk the full details of such overlaps. Anyway in March 2018 stopped taking Lexapro after hearing of a neighbors suicide, and since have been wrecked with flashbacks, obsessions, fear, intrusions, and the lot...yet idk if I have CPTSD or am just hyper aware and gaslighted myself into a state of paralysis?

I am confused.

Did anyone qualified diagnose you as PTSD and/or do you have critA trauma(s) in your history?
Just hearing of a suicide does not AFAIK qualify, for not witnessing (in person).

And how would you wind up mis dxd ADHD of all things? Not a common misdiagnosis with that one.

I have been told I have OCD that mirrors CPTSD, that is what I'm trying to figure out I'm unsure how to approach the scenario. I was looking at a thread on here about a person who has CPTSD yet felt their experience shouldn't result in such(not diminishing anyone's plight here) sorry if I'm being obtuse...I believe my trauma is if the emotional variety

It’s possible to be “overly” empathetic, as my doctors call it.

I have that kind of thing, though it is separate from my trauma. :) I also have OCD, although it is also a separate thing (though, related to my trauma, but definitely not the same as it).

I’ve been carefully learning what to invest in emotionally and what to try to step away from. It helps

Hi Tommy

Welcome to this site good to meet you. I hope you are able to find what you need here. There is a lot of good supportive people here. Thanks for reach out. This is a good topic. To some things are clear black and white. To me we are all different and things manifest in different ways. Don't try to compare trauma's as we are all different. It really is about what is happening to you now that is the ptsd. Your trauma's may not have found their path forward yet. Good start coming here reaching out and making a post. Good for you.

Peace be safe

The title of your thread mentions you don’t know where to start.

I’d start by talking to the doctor about your decision to stop Lexapro suddenly. Then I strongly suggest finding a therapist who has a lot of experience with CBT. I’d really stick it out with them and their treatment plan for a season. CBT can be very effective for both trauma and OCD, and they can sort out what is what and help you find some ways to feel better.
