Food the final frontier. How are you doing with food?

I am not eating. I am thinking I don't have to eat or only about half as much as I was if that. I have had the equivalent of 1 whole meal of solid food in the last 9 days. This is day 9. I'm not hungry. I have not lost 10 lbs yet. I feel great because food makes me sick. I have to relearn eating. I just can't be sick anymore I'd rather not eat. My wife didn't eat. I always told her she was unhealthy but she was always thin and she just didn't eat. I live by popping Tums and aspirin and drinking Alka seltzer and taking omeprazole, prescribed. I drink 3 cups of coffee a day and diet soda (one or two depending never more.) IDK what I was eating but it was pretty benign by any standards, and I was still sick all the time, heartburn and gas. Like every day one or the other. Well then my throat started to feel closed off and I had a close to choking incident in a restaurant and that's it. I will be seeing a gastroenterologist about the throat thing sometime soon. I started introducing fruit yesterday. I just made like a peach cobbler filling (I took 3 peaches and cooked them with honey.) I've been living on soup and muscle milk. So that's it. I should be pretty much cleaned out by now and I'm going to start reintroducing food, mostly fruit, slowly.

Baked apples with sugar, honey, butter and cinnamon in the microwave. Breakfast of champions. I did something like this with peaches a day or two ago, it's basically making pie filling. My wife says "starvation will do that to you." Going to get some Avocados today somewhere. I might graduate to salad today. We will c how it goes.

Eating about once a day. Made "dinner" the last couple days. Usually my wife won't let me feed her. It interferes with her eating on her schedule. I had no trouble introducing solid food and stopping at McDonald's to get nuggets for one of the kids is not tempting me badly right now. I feel hungry but that's better than how eating makes me feel. I'm close to my lowest acceptable weight (for me) which is 160 lbs, 6'1".

My stomach is vaugley upset this morning. Took a couple tums. I ate a large salad yesterday in two seperate sittings and got desperate after I went to bed and got up and had a hot (muscle) milk. Muscle milk is good heated up, chocolate or vanilla. I drank it as a coffee sub for awhile. The main thing about muscle milk is (of course) it's not upsetting for my stomach. I was in the gym the last few years and I don't want to tell you what I did to myself trying to supplement and diet. I swear my fathers' colon cancer was caused by his reactions to food being as bad as mine. They didn't know anything though, they just used to joke and call it the (our last name) stomach. It ran in the family I guess. I have my test (barium swallow) scheduled and I plan on getting referred to a dietician somehow this time. I'm eating very little. It's so much easier.

I started out life an an undereater. I know how it feels to have others try to make you eat when you do not want to eat! I also know what it feels like not to want to eat and trying to make oneself eat. Most of my life I was what others thought to be underweight. Then some Dr. prescribed a medication that causes weight gain. I gained 60 pounds in 4 months! I have been overweight since. I liked it the way I used to be. I wish I had never seen that Dr.!

SO sorry you have this hassle. I hope the Dr. can do something for you without causing chaos! Let us know how it goes.

I feel good. I didn't eat last night just corn chips and salsa. I was nervous because I put sour cream in it. The therapist said certain dairy is not bothering my stomach because the different kinds have different enzymes. Milk kills me. A bowl of cereal and I get eight hours of debilitating gas and loose stool running to the bathroom and the whole house would stink. When we were first married my wife made me go sleep on the couch a couple times because I was passing gas in my sleep so bad it woke her up. It's woken me up as well. Awful!
The corn chips and salsa are ok I guess because I feel ok. That was about 12 hours ago. I hesitated re introducing the corn chips because they are a staple and I was not sure about them even though they are non GMO and yada yada. I don't believe most of the crap on the lables. : )

I'm a chronic under eater. It started when I was born due to a physical deformity. It's become worse because of a multitude of food allergies causing me to feel so ill for the last five years. It started to get worse when I turned 60 which I heard is common. I spent all of the summer of 2016 ill with discovering all my food allergies through the process of elimination. I stopped eating the offending foods the moment I figured out which ones they were. For me, eating an allergen is akin to consuming poison because of the way it acts/reacts on my whole body. I assume it only affects my throat and/or intestinal tract. Not true. It's every organ in my body including my brain as I get anxiety from the allergic reaction as well, and it worsens my PTSD symptoms. Not so lovely.

Most fruit I cannot eat and it's so frustrating to me. I loved peaches. Not any more. And citrus? I've had problems for years yet didn't make the connection to an allergy.

And so many vegetables and spices I used to love are now on the DO NOT EAT list. My all time favorite cake was carrot cake. I'm highly allergic to carrots and celery and parsley, and everything else in the aromatic spices and vegetables which are frequently used in restaurants for seasoning of all kinds of dishes. Not so lovely knowing that celery is one of those foods which can give you anaphylactic shock. A scary prospect because epinephrine does absolutely nothing for me. A doctor tried it on me when I had a reaction to an antibiotic. No relief of my symptoms.

Beans are okay so I make 3, 4, or 5 bean salads. Lots of great fiber, a good source of protein, and wonderful tastes. I've become a bean lover.

Consider some protein powder you can mix with water. Don't get a cheap brand, but whey or mix...
Most powders contain whey which really kills me. I use muscle milk which you can get in powder also. They have a veg protein now at BJ's I'm basically afraid to try it. They would actually let me return the unused portion for a refund though, I just can't get myself to do it.

Sounds good to me...I'd eat that Mach123.

Thats scary... Hope you find a good Gastroenterologist who is aware of psychosomatic symptoms as well..

How are yo

Try experimenting with very small amounts and see how it goes. You might be able to get free samples in some stores. If it works you can gradually try a little more at a time and get an idea of your tolerance. There are also green powders that are made of fruits and vegetables and should be easy to digest. Consider a digestive enzyme to help if the protein powder or green drink does not already include such an enzyme.

Dairy allergy here... so I have to be craaaaaaazy careful, because I react even to dairy sourced vitamins/minerals :banghead: Don’t even get me started on enriched rice, or so called vegan products that simply aren’t.

Orgain Vegan meal replacement shakes, they taste a lot like slimfast of the 1980s, but they don’t make me sick. Ever. https://www.orgain.com/why/dr-andrew-abraham.html And you can doctor them to taste better, if you aren’t as lazy as I am ;)
