Yes - it has to be registered to be legally allowed into all those places one needs a service dog. There a very strong laws surrounding Service dogs here.

It's very difficult and strict - hence the big deal to be accepted and then the wait for the dog.

Oh yea - I forgot not everyone is in the states! right now 'registration" is a big hot button for us because we don't have a registration process and there are a bunch of companies that sell "papers" that are not real.

So just a little update...

I was meant to receive my dog before Christmas but there has been a big hiccup at the agency's end.

It's nothing to do with me..but it does effect me of course. So, I will not be getting my dog for another 12 months. :(

Twelve whole months...maybe a little sooner but unlikely. Twelve months is a hell of a long time in one sense and a blink of the eye in another. I swing between the two perspectives ...

There is nothing to be done except wait. I'm sad but ok.

The agency rep who rang me was really sorry but unforeseen consequences and all that.

My doctor's have rung them and there isn't anything to be done about it.

I've known for two weeks now and I have been pretty sad about it, wondering if it will ever really happen etc... those of you who have waited to receive a dog would know the drill..

So.. that's my news.. :(

Oh. I am so sorry, That must be very disappointing. As you say there is nothing to be done and so its all about making the best of it but you are allowed a bit of sadness first. ?
