By this I mean getting your sufferer to push their boundaries, with your support if needed, which is what happened today.

Hubby had to go to the doctors for a med review, nothing unusual with that except to see the Doctor he is relaxed with and I knew would listen and take notice we had to go into the next village, as this was the only day I could get an appointment for this week to see her. Knowing this could be an issue, I had arranged for a lift from our next door neighbour. They have been wonderfully helpful in emergency's or quick trips like this over the last 3 years.

After getting him there and seeing the doctor, we then had a choice. We either walk home through the park, or we get a Taxi. My option we walk, his option we get a Taxi. It only takes 20 mins to walk back, but he decided he was feeling a bit anxious after having to go to next village to see the doctor, so wanted to get home by Taxi, as soon as he could. Even to the point of saying it was starting to rain, yes it was cloudy and yes it looked like it could start any minute. But I am not that daft and new if I pushed him he would be OK walking.

Yep, you guessed it, I pushed.

It was a nice quiet and calm walk back, no anxious moments, no rushing. I did stop him outside the doctors and told him to take a few slow deep breaths, then calm it down and relax. 30 minutes later back home, after having a nice walk through the park, as well as sitting for a while watching a dog playing and just chilling.

When we got back he told me he was glad I pushed him, but I know when I can and when I can't. It is getting easier to push his boundaries a bit more each week. whether I do it or he does it himself.

I will admit if it had started raining before we set off back, I would have agreed to the taxi. 6 hours later sun is out and it did no rain. If the rain had started before we got home, back up umberella in my bag :thumbs-up
