Hmmm. No comments so far as Dem Impeachment opening statements? Been watching dutifully though painfully through the Dem arguments for impeachment. Other competing interests though. I swear to God after all this is finally over if I ever have to sit through more than 30 minutes of Schiff I'll voluntarily rupture my own ear drums and gouge my own eyes out.

Amazes me that not enough is being raised main stream by the fact that not only is this about "impeachment" now... ever the ones to use an inch to take a mile, Dem House Managers are wanting:
1. Removal from office and/or to be stricken from the 2020 General election ballot.
2. To ban "forever" Trump from running again.
3. Apparently American voters are too stupid to be trusted at the ballot box... and we are told, it's to "protect" various things: us, election integrity, "free and fair elections" process... blah blah blah.
4. Russia Russia Russia… which has been debunked to the tune of well over 32 million tax payer dollars... UKRAINE??? Is vital to our national security.... does anyone really buy any of this?

Hubris on a massive scale. If they're breathing here lately, they're angling a way to gain power to control every aspect of your life. I believe it solidly. All brought to the populace by the idea that it's a mistake to put a hold on Foreign Aid to a thoroughly corrupt country??? AWWwwwwwww come on.

Yep. If convicted, Trump would be removed from the presidency and forbidden from running again. That's how impeachment works.

So, yes, of course the Democrats are pushing for these things. Those are the rules.

Convicting a corrupt president isn't the same thing as overturning an election, despite the propaganda the White House is churning out. It's just removing a person from office who is too corrupt to be allowed to serve. If Trump is removed (which he won't be) then Pence becomes president, not Hillary, for crying out loud.

It won't go that far at any rate. It is a pipe dream. No one except TDSers would expect a sitting president who postponed foreign aid to be impeached. This whole expensive, time wasting round of BS is more of the same.... remove him at all costs cuz we don't like him. The only irony is Dems are calling POTUS a dictator?

FIVE Bidens have benefited in the 10s of millions and crossfire hurricane, crowd strike, spy gate (which includes spying on Ted Cruz's campaign by the way) and FISA gate are real. Not conspiracy theories and nothing about any of them has been debunked. It is totally and completely asinine to take the position that if I have been enriching my family on the backs of American taxpayers for decades (Joe has been in office for what about 5 decades?)… as long as I'm aspiring to the office of the 2020 presidency I'm off limits so far as investigations for corruption.

Yet we've heard a ton of crowing about how "no one is above the law"???? Come on. The hypocrites are in hyperdrive to save their asses. Should POTUS come out of this and retake the presidency in 2020... I and many others are hoping he'll be serving indictments for the next 4 years.

Ukraine meddled in 2016 elections. Fact. Somehow for democrats it is beyond them to think that more than one nation meddled in the 2016 elections.

Not a democrat but not a trump supporter And This might shock you @The Albatross but I wholly believe that corruption exists in EVERY country and at the very least movers and shakers Ingovernments, civil service and businesses in all countries are trying to make conditions favourable ... in legal ways and perhaps less great ones- and on all sides of all politics. That is WHY checks and balances are so very,very important.

Some people feel the law doesn’t apply to them about speeding. That stinks, and has potential to impact maybe a few. DUIs the same. When it comes to big scale business and government it impacts hundreds of thousands, millions and sometimes not just I. Our own back yards’.


Not being above the law applies to all. Dismissing one leader because of other people who you think might merit investigation (something I will set aside) doesn’t make it ok. It makes two wrongs. If you feel more than one country was corrupt in doesn’t make it ok... because let’s remember, if we say ‘putin’ is Russia, and Zelenski is Ukraine so they are corrupt, then in absolving investigation into trump you are absolving The US , and YOUR responsibility for corruption whether you voted or not. I am mad about corruption I feel strongly happens representing me - ( though I accept it will always happen to some degree). When things are mooted and there is refusal to comply with ‘checks and Balances’ or the sort of due diligence to either say ‘yeah, this wasn’t great, I got it,it won’t happen again’ or not, we can clearly see this did not happen’ then it looks awful. Biden is not currently representing you. Four Bidens never have. ( how many trump family members do right now?) One person in question IS elected by you. His ‘team’ have been found guilty of other matters. I would want to see what was there to clear it up .

I think that THAT is where a lot of people are having difficulty.

Don't talk to me about "fair" when Atkinson's testimony and the whistle blower himself though we know who he is... are being obscured. Rep. Adam B. Schiff, California Democrat, and other impeachment managers repeatedly talk about the 17 witnesses interviewed during the House’s secretive depositions. But they do not mention an 18th witness, Michael Atkinson, the intelligence community’s inspector general who has firsthand knowledge of the origins of the whistleblower complaint that led to the impeachment.

NYT has an article based on a leak about Bolton's book. Interesting enough Dem Witness Vindman's twin brother works in that agency and is suspect for the leak.

Where is Eric Cieramella? Where is Michael Atkinson's testimony and why is it still not released?

It is a straw man that Biden is being targeted because he was Trump's political opponent.

It would be historic... if a sitting President would be not only impeached, but removed from office and "banned forever from running for office again" for what essentially amounts for a policy dispute.

Those of us who are following this closely can clearly see how this whole charade/scam/farce/sham "impeachment" is being run by Dems who are terrified that their own corrupt dealings will come to light and thus, the desparados are clutching at straws and colluding with their, similarly, corrupt lefty/in-Hillary's-pocket media outlets to smear the president. If they had anything real on him they would never, ever, shut up about it, but, as it is, they have to resort to (very) selective "truth" (cough, innuendo, opionion, emotional manipulation and outright lies, cough, Russia hoax and perpetuating the "Russia are the baddies, always the baddies" tired our old propaganda line) and outrage over the fact that POTUS dares to investigate (American, not so much Ukrainian) corruption.

Just you wait, more (real) "dirt" is going to come out about shifty Adam Shiff (who incidentally is related, by marriage, to George Soros), Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, the Biden's, the Obamas and probably more. This is what they are REALLY terrified of, and hating POTUS over.


And then there is his audacity to challenge the Central Bank (Rothschild empire controlled) economy, which is REALLY what is behind all these "never ending wars" and bring control back to the American people, rather than allowing these blood thirsty eletes to dictate to everyone.

Truly? Trump and the patriots are an inspiration to struggling people in less free countries everywhere. That is why the Hong Kong protesters were waving US flags and singing the American Anthem and why protesting Iranians refused to stand on the painted-on-the-square US flag.

He's given more oomph and clout to the Brexit movement and all kinds of ripples are being felt around the world due to his positivity, his stand up for his peopleness and his prosperity-not-war approach to governing. And WE ARE NOT BUYING THE MEDIA AND THE DEMS LIES.

It's incredibly frustrating that, for whatever reason, members decide that this is a thread that they can't regulate themselves in, or don't need to.

This could be an incredibly interesting and relevant thread, where we could come to practice discussion of topics of interest other than ptsd, in a regulated way. Instead, it routinely gets bombarded with hysterics.

That's incredibly frustrating.

What seems to be getting lost in all this is that the person on trial is the President of the US. And yet, partisan politics, rather than the rule of law, are going to decide his guilt.

The upshot of that is that the President may not be above political game-play, but he is, apparently, above the law.

I'm in favour of alleged law-breaking being decided by the courts. Or at least, independently of the parliament. If someone has broken the law, try it in a court, regardless of their station.
