That sounds awful @Justmehere.

I never thought my little experiments in soap making a few years ago might become so handy. I still have half a tub of lye in the garage, if things ever get that desperate. Getting the fat might be a struggle though. No cooking oil on the shelves today.

A combination of excema, allergies and a PTSD trigger has meant I’ve been relying on bars of soap and hand washing all along. But I’ve been lucky- the one thing panic buyers haven’t snatched up is the organic unscented stuff! I certainly don’t feel more at risk because I can’t use hand sanitiser.

I’m at risk for isolating becoming dangerous. I’ve spent the last 4 years building myself some kind of social life and without it, it could be so easy to slip back.

I just spent $300 on groceries. And a few other needed things. At Aldi. Where food is cheap.

Meal planning didn't work as I needed meat and there was no meat. Except beef shaved steak. Have no idea what I'm gonna do with that. I thought maybe with rice and BBQ sauce? I dunno.

I got several things of flour tortillias in place of bread. Like 12 of them. Way more then I need but I love flour tortillias. I can snack just on them.

I got like 12 things of body soap bars. 2 packs. I am running low on soap and there were plenty.

I got some black bean soup. Have no idea if I'll like it but thought good with rice?

I already have 2 boxes of rice so I didnt get anymore. Probably should of but eh. I got like 12 cans of tuna. To go along with my ramen noodles that I already have.

I found these all in one dinners. With meat, veggies, and noodles. Got 4 of those. There werent that many left and they are big enough to make 2 meals for me.

No peanut butter! And I couldn't find any rasins. I love raw rolled oats, rasins, and milk. Cold. Like cereal. My dad got me into loving that as a kid. I can eat it without rasins but not as good so I found these small packs of granola with fruit and some with rasins and cinnimon. I thought that would go good with the raw oats cereal.

Got more cereal. I got enough cereal for a few months at this point.

I found some bananas, apples, a bag of oranges, a bag of potatoes (and got boxed mashed potatoes and didnt put that back cause of hurricane prep food. That can come in handy). And a small seedless watermelon. Cause, why not?

A bunch of pasta meals that I love from Aldi. They are supposed to go with chicken (and I already had chicken thighs) but got more cause they are amazing on their own. Also got a bunch of mac and cheese. As well shredded cheese and sour cream cause I like to make my own mac and cheese verison and have a big box of elbow pasta.

I think im gonna use the one lb of ground beef that I already have for speggetti (sp? Sorry, exhausted) cause it will go futher.

Oh, and they had a small amount of toliet paper come in when I was checking out. I heard a worker tell the cashier and tell him a limit of 2 per person so I ran over and got 2. They are only 4 packs but i got some and I already have a 9 pack with only 3 rolls used out of it. At least I got some.

Publix and Win Dixie is opening early for the elderly they said on the radio but still nothing for the disabled.

I went to my therapist in person today. Only one there. He is gonna do video conference calling with an app called zoom. We tested it in the office today and it works. He'll email me the invite when its time for my appointment next week. Im sad cause I really get a lot out of having in person connection with him but he's in his 60s (though he looks 40) so i get it.

There are cops EVERYWHERE. I saw 5 on the way to the therapist's (like a 15 min drive) and 8 on the way back. Got my Xanax so good on meds. Walgreens said they would be helping people get what they needed due to the Cronovirus (automated thing last time I called them) but they are reducing their hours from 9 to midnight to 9 to 9. Not much help.

My therapist told me that many restraunts are doing drive up pick up and are doing it for a family of 4. So that would last me a long time. He said he and his wife has done that and its not a ton of money. I dont eat out so i dunno about that. He said to mix it up or to get the nutrients that I am missing by not being able to get what I need.

Chopper is exhausted and i can barely move. I put away just needed to be in the fridge and freezer and left the rest on the kitchen floor. I still need to do laundry but i cant move. It is so hot outside and we were in Aldi for about 2 hours making sure to look at every shelf multiple times to make sure i wasnt missing anything. I was trying to come up with meal plans on the spot as they didnt have what i needed. Ugh!

ETA: I saw someone in the store with latex gloves. I have latex gloves. Why did I not think to use them?

I had they keychain sized hand sanitizer in my pocket and used it after hitting the elevevator button and checking in at my therapist's. After getting out of my therapist. And after I got out of the store and after I got in my car, and when I got home. But that tiny thing isnt gonna last. And there is no hand sanitizers anywhere. No lysol. Nothing. I found some lysol wipes in my house. Along with the clorox ones. And an almost empty spray of lysol. I cant go store to store looking for shit. Why dont they open the stores early for the disabled as well as the elderly here? No one gives a flyint f*ck about the disabled here! It seems.

ETA: Oh, bought some canned soups too. Some chicken and beef stock.

For people worrying about animals, here's a link to my state's board of animal health web site. They've got some good general information on corona viruses as well as what information they have on the potential risk to animals. (Pretty much none, as far as they know, right now.) link

Thank you! I heard someone say "it can't pass to dogs, they don't believe. Except for the one dog that got it". Wait, what? What "one dog"?

Ugh! So much misinformation and that causes so much more panic for those with service animal who are out around the public.

Anyway, thank you!

Fear leads to panic. Panic leads to hate. Hate leads to violence.

Hate leads to the Dark Side, @siniang, lol.

Quite a few US National Parks have “virtual “ tours.

That's a great idea! My stepsister and I are going to the redwoods when this is over.

That would be such a Sideways move: while the rest of the world is stockpiling useful stuff like rice and handsoap, I go to the pet store and buy one of every toy they have

I was out stocking up on dog treats, lol.

this clip from The Late Show with Steven Colbert is hilarious.

I LOVE Steven Colbert! He is so funny with or without a studio audience!

This is a funny and fantastic PSA.

Ok, I'm laughing so hard I'm crying! More, more!

We can't buy food. If we had listened to our PrimeMinister we would be screwed now. Luckily I was follow Covid19 spread and got my extra shopping in several weeks beforehand. We got two home deliveries and now the supermarkets aren't delievering to homes now because they ahve run out of stock. I am really proud of myself. I was organised. I planned ahead. I went at times when there were few people present. I showered and washed when I got home. So we have adequate food and we could ration our food for a couple of months if need be. I did a really good one on this despite managing illness, hospitalisations and B's hernia operations.

If you hadn't go the money to stock up or you bought when people were paniking I feel for you. The panic buying meant more spread of COVID19 and you know if they even had put out some education campaigns in January it could have made all the difference.

We got two home deliveries and now the supermarkets aren't delievering to homes now because they ahve run out of stock.
Here in Australia, Coles and Woolworths had a spike in demand for home deliveries with the virus outbreak. Too many people suddenly wanted things delivered, and that have insufficient staff and resources to meet that demand.

They are, in fact, still delivering. However, only to those who can't make it to the supermarket for some reason (such as: self quarantining, illness/disabilities, etc).

Check out Coles and Woolies websites for details.

We haven't run out of stock. The supermarkets are having logistical issues meeting demand, and a range of measures have been introduced to fix that.

Australia makes a surplus of food (we make enough food to feed about 75 million people, and our population is closer to 25 million). There's simply some logistics issues being ironed out to make sure everyone can access it.

Let's try and keep information accurate, because incorrect info like supermarkets "have run out of stock" fuels unnecessary panic:tup:

ETA. If you're in the sunshine state and need help accessing food while you're self isolating, and haven't been able to get any joy through the supermarket websites, call 13 HEALTH. Check health dept websites for the phone number in other states.

Thank you! I needed a laugh!

ETA: Though, Aussies seem to have their shit together. 'Merica is the one that thinks it attacks their butthole. No toliet paper anywhere. Maybe they think that it will give them the shits? Who knows. Shit if I know. Lol!
I heard today diarrhea does occur in some cases .

My dad just decided to gloat that that Aldi by him (45 mins away) was only out of TP. Thanks asshole! I texted him to make sure they were ok, since he is 78 and never bothered to call or text since this all happened, and to give them the info about Publix and Win-Dixie giving the elderly additional hours. Wow! How f*cking insenstive.

Then talks about a grand that I guess the government is sending to everyone and that he didnt think he would get it. He, a retired person, who get a VA benefit check monthly and retirement social security and who makes more then me yearly is worried about getting money from the governement to help those effect by Covid-19?

Very selfish person he is.
