I have suffered trauma from multiple situations. That said I didn't know that C-PTSD was an actual diagnosis. In fact I've read the opposite according to @anthony .

I've never even been diagnosed with trauma Because my psychiatrists were inept.

I think although I may well be wrong there are two diagnostic books as such the first being the dam? Which is predominantly used in the USA? And the ism? Which is used in Europe I think

The European book does list C-PTSD although the dsm dosnt even then I think it pretty hit and miss with diagnosis

yeah makes sense.

Because I've stupidly waited 40years before asking for help I was only diagnosed 18months ago

That's not stupidly :)

It means you did so much on your own, even if doing badly - and that is really admirable. So is that you reached out after so long of struggling on your own. Well done.

Year and a half is soo very new... give it time, that soon in trauma therapy for a lifetime of trauma is basically only beginning to delve into the waters.

So not like you are lost at the ocean with all of it... you will be alright.

Diagnosis - the European book you mean would be ICD-10 (at least I hope ten / vrs 11 yet in the making, don't recall numbering rn).

Which for US is the book whose coding they bill by.

So yep, differences of it with DSM V.

Think the point Survivor was making was more along the lines of CPTSD not being ofi / separate diagnosis... formal is still PTSD, with other features, like dissociation in complex trauma.

Oh I see I didn't mean to come over as a smart ads apologise if it sounded like that

You didn't come over that way at all, Taz, no worries ;)

And smart ass is good, smart alecks are both witty people and seriously catching up on social situations fast people - enough to judge when it's safe to be a smartass and when not, and spot the humor even in dire times - and those are *good* traits :sneaky:

No harm done & no harm comin, and no apologies needed ;)

Did your therapist leave an email or give you a phone call? I have some serious abandonment issues and finally trust my T after 2.5 years of work. We are doing tele therapy at the moment. Prior to this she left me a card at the front desk. It’s to read if/when things go not as planned. I guess I just find it odd that your therapy would just shut down like that, even if it is temporary. :-/
Also, I went through a really hard time 1.5 years ago when I was in a rupture with my T. This site was so incredibly helpful for me at that time. I hope that you receive the love and care that I received.
