News Worldwide impact of the novel coronavirus (covid-19)

Not according to the news bulletins I receive from the VA.

Regardless, our very stable genius leader is also apparently a medical expert as well, as the blazing cowards at the VA are content to pretend that he is. Hydroxychloroquine does not work.

Some VA systems are continuing to treat veterans who have Covid with hydroxychloroquine, because the president says it works.
They are "testing" it on veterans in the VA hospitals. Not treating them.

Ahhhh the VA. Taking care of those pesky little ethical questions & potential moral dilemmas, by changing the words on the flyer from “seeking human trial subjects” to “exclusive access to cutting edge treatment”... where the transition between cutting edge, to bleeding edge, actually bleeds for ya.

Our military & veterans, the widows of the medical testing community “They won’t yell. They rarely tell. They’re desperate as hell.”

On a lighter note ;) Courtesy of Cave Johnson & Portal 2
”Those of you helping us test the repulsion gel today, just follow the blue line on the floor. Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men. Pick up a rifle and follow the yellow line. You'll know when the test starts."
“For this next test, we put nanoparticles in the gel. In layman's terms, that's a billion little gizmos that are gonna travel into your bloodstream and pump experimental genes and RNA molecules and so forth into your tumors. Now, maybe you don't have any tumors. Well, don't worry. If you sat on a folding chair in the lobby and weren't wearing lead underpants, we took care of that, too."
Back on topic...
Anyone else’s cities permanently or temporarily blocking off streets to traffic to encourage people to walk whilst keeping their distance? The city I’m living in at the moment was built when DETROIT STEEL was king of the mountain, and wartime production was switched over to civilian use, meaning thousands of factories nationwide switched from boots, bullets, and bombs to leather seats, door panels, & tires... the stated IDEAL was that with not just 1 but soon to be 2 cars, for every family, no one would ever have to walk, again!!! :woot:

 Meaning, that 2/3s of my city? Doesn’t. Actually. Have. Sidewalks. Because walking was soooo old-fashioned. Then, of course, the oil crisis in the 70s, and the health crisis of a population that largely only walked from house to car to building to car to house... has created decades of people demanding more walk-able construction. But it’s taken a plague to get my city on board... not with pouring sidewalks, but shutting down streets? Mmmkay.

So I’m curious if that’s just around here, or in your neck of the woods, too?

sidewalks are few and far in between here in on the west coast. Maybe in the burbs but telling people to walk places?? Oh dear god you may as well have told them to crawl on their hands and knees.
Seriously - we will drive one block over rather than walk

It is changing a bit, but because so much of our area is still rural then fancy city stuff aint gonna happen out here?

I saw an article about them doing this somewhere in BC. Blocking the road and allowing pedestrian traffic only. I think it's great, especially normally high traffic areas with a lot of small stores. Frees up the entire roadway to help people physically distance themselves.

Theres a place in the city closest to me here that I hope they do this. Not a place I normally go, and still won't (unless I really need to go to the best comic store in the province or the dentist) but for the rest of the people that normally frequent the area I think it'd be a good plan.

Lots of walking around here anyway, so no. But...they ARE blocking off a number of streets downtown so that restaurants along the streets can serve outdoors.

I went to church today. Everyone got their temperature taken, there were bottles of hand sanitizer everywhere and we were all wearing masks. We were told not to sing at all either. There were about ten of us. We did our best with social distancing too. I made sure to stay six feet away from everyone.

How was it in terms of worship and gathering with everyone? We are not opening until after the first of the year and, while I'm thinking that's probably a good idea, I am really missing it. I just returned to this church and it's weird having to do everything online.
