^^ even if all that happened (yes I've been attacked by black guys due to being white), do you have the luxury of realising it is *their* issue and not yours, due to it not being the societal norm?

This.

And I'm so sorry you had that experience.

But you're also not one of the people that goes like 'My perp was X race / ethnicity therefore extreme measures against those are valid' or some such so imo you're super good.

That or the fact you hand out shiny hats :p

Cos it's irrelevant really. Those guys sucked. They thought I sucked. Shit happens. White people abuse all nationalities, black people abuse all nationalities. Some people suck. Most people don't. It's not dictated by ethnicity.

Lol thanks. Imma back away now cos I don't wanna derail the thread. But I appreciate your comments :)

Were you followed in shops, no matter where you went, as thieves - despite the fact you always paid till the last cent - while your black friends could steal and that shop lifting got overlooked?

Yes

Were you not permitted to date certain people, because they are horrible whites?

No but "horrible blacks", yes.

Were the people you dated despite that refusal beaten near death or TO death, and then set ablaze?

Yes.

Are we really trauma comparing on a PTSD website at this point. Because, right now, you are assuming that some of this stuff did not happen to me when you have no f*cking clue if it did or not.

Wanna know a secert? I was horribly sexually tortured and raped and trafficked by black men because I was a "pretty white girl". I was 7. I was sexually tortued and trafficked due to being a white, blond hair and blue eye person. I was sold (trafficked) due to my race, my hair, my eyes, my looks, etc. as a child.

I have been assumed to be stealing when I wasn't because I has dirty. I was assumed to be trash because I was dirty, by the police.

I mean, stop assuming that I have no clue of ANY of the things that those of color have to do with. You do not know what my experiences are. Stop assuming shit about me please! I have been open and honest and open to new thoughts. I do not state that I know what those of color deal with (only those of my own experiences) and have never stated that but I do not appreciate the apparent of making my trauma "less then" yours. It wasn't. Or that I have never been through some of that, because I have.

It's not about my feelings? You just made it about me by asking me have I been...

I don't think it was intended as comparing trauma, more the reasons behind the trauma. I was abused because "white girls = sluts", but that was a specific group of people, not the most predominant view of the society around me.

It's not that your trauma is irrelevant, it's not. Or that you haven't experienced some of the shit black people have, cos you have. It's that you didn't experience it as a given due to your race.

Not trauma comparing.

And I well remember your trauma history.

But you say it yourself: *because I was dirty / poor*.

Racialized traits & other factors traits are *still not the race factors / experience, itself.*

Similar as - And I'll use my other ethnicity bc the Black part is literally too loaded for me to continue theoreticals on -

If you aren't Jewish you can't tell the *dread* for Nazis parading in your city. Even if that Jewish person 'looks white'. They aren't.

White people, who may also get assaulted by neo Nazis because hey, those fellas are assholes, by definition - don't have to deal with that kind of dread.

Nor hide their ethnicity.

* * *

Nor, I dunno, change it on forms or disclose it at all if they want a basic thing like change a legal name to years of stalking.

While their white friends aren't even asked about that.

Tldr if your ethnic / clan / race belongings aren't a wide-out potential death sentence?

While a lot of the world doesn't give a f*ck for your people... or cheers?

Yeah. You don't get it.

Yeah. You don't get it.

How do you know I don't get it? I never said, anywhere nor even gave the impression that as a white person, I understand how it is to be black or any other race. I don't even know why you're going in on me cause I never even hinted at that anywhere.

I'm out with this discussion. Triggering as all f*ck!

Thank you @Chris-duck! That made more sense. And thank you for being respectful!

ETA: Oh, and I even stated I was raised racist and probably have some of those thought patterns hanging around. Not sure how more open minded I can be to "get it".

@lostforgottensoul Be so kind and don't personalize.

I literally wrote those paragraphs as a generic statement - that people who didn't have to very really fear or flee for their *lives* for ethnic reasons - and their families, loved ones, friends, and so on...

Don't have that experience to speak from.

I have a very good friend who used to be a member of a white supremacist group and now works against racism and tracks hate groups in the US. He wasn’t changed by people humiliating him for his beliefs or critiquing him for trying to understand better. That only made him dig in deeper to racist views. He was changed by those who engaged in respectful dialogue about issues around race. We have had really fascinating discussions lately, and it’s been really helpful for me to learn how he went from racist to anti-racist.

I think it’s incredibly precarious ground to travel on to start assuming somebody’s life experiences based on the color of their skin.

I’m my opinion, this isn’t a very interesting thread of it’s going to be several pages debating if 1 person on the thread is sufficiently not racist or not. This thread at times is going to involve the discussion of uncomfortable opinions and ideas from every angle. If you are not in the place to educate someone, then just move on.

Let’s debate and discuss the bigger ideas and happenings.

There are massive worldwide developments happening due to the protests, such as the movement in the US to get rid of the police entirely in some areas or disband police unions in others. It’s been really interesting seeing the protests in Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong. There are so many great things to discuss.

I went to this university for awhile. It's was a pretty good one to study at. They are going to do research in to racism and Covid19:

“One of the important barriers our research will investigate is racism. There is a lot of evidence that social marginalisation and experiences of racism leads to further reductions in accessing timely healthcare and reduced health outcomes.

“There is also a historic evidence of racialisation of CALD people during pandemics, and there have been many reports of people from CALD backgrounds experiencing COVID-19-related racism.
