I am a survivor of childhood abuse and then later adult sexual assault, and attempted murder. I have worked very hard to overcome my trauma and PTSD. I am working on my PhD in Trauma and Greif Psychology to help other women. I am doing some research for my dissertation and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share with me the 3 or 4 biggest things they are struggling with after experiencing childhood trauma and /or that repeated in adulthood in some way. I will keep everything anonymous, I am early in my research stage and I want to be sure that I am working in the areas that are most needed.
Are their any areas of your life you constantly struggle:
Like your health, unexplained chronic pain, weight issues, etc,
Money issues, can't seem to get ahead, or having trouble with career advancement,
Relationship issues, unhappiness- feel misunderstood by your partner, sexual issues, lack of desire ....
General Symptoms such as anxiety, depression, a sense of disconnectedness, or that you feel like you are losing it, or can't concentrate.
These are issues that I struggled with in varying degrees, and I understand trauma can look and feel different for everyone. I want to dedicate my research to helping women in areas where they feel they aren't getting enough help. If you could share some of the biggest issues you are facing, some examples of how they show up in your life, that would help me help others.
I know this forum is for support for each other and I am not looking to exploit anyone's pain. I have suffered with many things and it was hard for me to find a supportive community, so I understand the value of this community- I want to be part of the right solution. Thanks! :)
