New Here
Having hard time dealing w life-long PTSD & BP1, more so than usual. Have hit a dead end and need new resources & strategies. The avenues I’ve been using don’t feel effective any more. Been dealing w/these things so long, have been pretty good at managing but I want more out of life than being in the safe space I’m hiding in. Hoping to learn as much as I can here. Am introverted, reserved, but hoping the anonymity will help with opening up. I cant talk about PTSD/MH issues w/family, friends don’t understand a lot when I avoid things bc of triggers, or run for the door when car backfires. :) Unless I’m in intimate relationship I don‘t disclose, even then try to remain as neutral/”normal” as possible. Looking forward to discussing things more freely here. Take care

Welcome to the forum. This has been a wonderful source of information and support for me. I hope the same for you.

Hej,

Welcome to the forum and I look forward to reading your posts, maybe even replying to them . ;)

Courage.

hello gi. welcome to the forum. sorry for what brings you here, but glad you are here.

most of my psychotherapy has been for manic depression/bipolar in my own lifelong dance with ptsd. i made my escape from the throwaway kid camps in 1973 and couldn't afford to wait for the mid 90's when the psychiatric community came up with the logical diagnosis for psycho ticks of being raised with child prostitution/porn. ptsd explains allot that bipolar brushed under the rug, but those coping tools i learned in bipolar therapy work for ptsd, as well.

congratulations on having taken this bold step in your recovery. i hope it serves you as well as it has served me.

Thank you for the welcome, I’m sorry for your hard experiences, sounds as though you’ve had to grit and get on. Seems like so much of life has been triage - addressing most present concern & deferring more than surface treatment of traumas/bipolar/ptsd. Can relate to when money is tight &/or resources unavailable, it’s been head down & keep moving forward. Heartened that you have found this to be a helpful space.

Would be interested in what coping tools have worked best for you?

Take care. Thank you for the support.

Welcome Gi,

Glad you are trying to enlarge your safe space, or at least venture out once in a while.
Thank you for taking the time to welcome me to forum :) Feel like hermit crab - moving in increments; from small shell to slightly larger shell :)
