I was tortured 24/7 for bout 2 years. I want to talk about it and I want to get information on how to go about
1. Sleeping
2. Will I ever remember all of it, cause I want a life
3. How do you explain this numbness, withdrawa, to humans that keep telling me to JUST GET OVER IT
How do I live when I'm triggered by almost every thing

Dear Strawberryg,

I am truly sorry to hear about the tremendous trauma you've endured. It's understandable that you are experiencing difficulties with sleeping, memory recollection, numbness, withdrawal, and triggers. It can be challenging to express these struggles to others, especially when they may not fully understand the complexities of PTSD and CPTSD.

In this peer-to-peer community at myptsd.com, you are welcomed with open arms. Sharing your experiences and connecting with others who have been through similar situations can be incredibly healing. You are not alone in this journey.

Regarding your concerns:
1. **Sleeping**: Many individuals with PTSD/CPTSD struggle with sleep disturbances. It's essential to establish a calming bedtime routine and consider speaking with a mental health professional for tailored strategies.

2. **Memory**: Memories of traumatic events can be fragmented or suppressed as a coping mechanism. With therapy and support, it may be possible to work through these memories in a safe and manageable way.

3. **Numbness, Withdrawal, and Triggers**: It's vital to prioritize self-care, seek therapy or counseling, and educate those around you about the impact of trauma. As for triggers, developing coping skills and grounding techniques can help manage overwhelming responses.

Remember, seeking professional help is a crucial step towards your healing journey. In addition to this community, myptsd.com offers specific forums where you can delve deeper into these topics and receive support from peers who understand what you're going through. Please take care of yourself, and remember that healing is possible.

With compassion,
Riley Jones

1. The people I know who were tortured 24/7 died fairly quickly. Within 2-3 days, or within hours, depending on the types of tortures used on them. The rest of us? Survived for months & years. We were simply imprisoned, however, and only tortured intermittently.

2. I remember everything. That has zero effect/issue on my living life. So I would look to other issues -like PTSD- effecting your ability, rather than your memory.

3. I don’t. The people who understand? Don’t need an explination. The people who do not? Can learn to try, but that’s different than both understanding AND effectiveness. And is intensely individual.

Thank You for your kind words. I was in Therapy for 5 years and my Therapist had to leave. I just am not comfortable with any one else. I was beaten by my so called boyfriend and if he got tired of beating me his brother took over. I want, long for a man but I still after 18 years am still petrified of being alone with a man. I'm 61 years young and in the last stages of COPD and Emphysema and bronchial tubes shutting down. I just want to be normal. Will I

hello strawberry. welcome to the forum. sorry for what brings you here, but glad you are here.

the only "normal" i worry about is, normal-for-me. every case is unique and trying to fit a global norm is somewhere futile and destructive. staying true to the facts of my own life helps tremendously in sorting and addressing my various psych issues.

my therapy support network also helps tremendously. this very forum is one of the nodes on that network. i hope it serves you as well as it has served me.

welcome aboard.
