Hi Jeremiah. I went through something similar to you are describing it sounds like and I have a lot of specific memory issues. (I actually also got a CS degree at some point... lol). Like I can do advanced mathematics but I have a hard time navigating my own town or remembering people's names. So it's not really a matter of discipline I think so much as learning ways to cope, because what they did really damages your brain on a fundamental level.
