Weed and antidepressants. Is it really safe?

Heavy chronic weed smoker here, tried to quit last summer, made it 8 days and realized it wasn't worth it. I was just too miserable and crazy without it.
As far as the meds, you're right in being cautious. I was on escatalopram for about 7 months and it fd me up so bad I could barely formulate a sentence. Then switched to trintellix and it seemed to work well without as many side effects.
Honestly, I must admit that both of those drugs are very effective at treating depression. I also found that the effects are long lasting and seemed to permanently change some of my thought patterns for the better even months after I quit taking the drugs.
Good luck bro.

Absolutely......and always.

Because the best we can say about the effects of Cannabis are generalities. Generally it does....whatever...but not always...and it may not be the same for everyone.
CBN for instance is generally good for sleep...but not for me. It's like 32 cups of coffee....no way I'm sleeping after taking that.

My doctors never liked that I used it but they certainly appreciated I told them about using it. After legalization here seeing a cannabis doctor for dealing with all that stuff was awesome. Mostly because I was using it for pain management before I knew about PTSD, and learning to track usage was a huge help with managing use.

Oh have much to say...
I was hooked on "spice" for 1.5 years. Let me tell you seriously - fake weed is worse than crystal meth!!!
DO NOT SMOKE STORE BOUGHT WEED!
They are lacing it with spice, and using gmo fertilizers that are very bad for you.
I'm serious, been smoking since 93' and I won't touch store weed.
How to tell?
Strange taste, irritates tongue and lips, makes you dizzy, upset stomach and also...
INSOMNIA!

I mixed weed with antidepressants for a while and noticed it messed with my mood more than helped. Made me foggy and anxious some days, even paranoid if I wasn't careful.

I’ve been using delta while on antidepressants, and it’s been mellow compared to regular weed—less anxiety and no spiraling thoughts. I still talked to my doc just in case, and they didn’t seem too concerned, but everyone’s different. Mixing stuff can be weird depending on your brain chemistry, so it's smart to pay attention to how your body reacts, especially with mood stuff.

You absolutely cannot take medical advice about prescription drug interactions from a forum, especially with something complex like mood stabilizers. You need a specialized medical consultation.

Having the official medical card ensures you have a professional doctor supervising your cannabis use.

For me it varies. I find edibles less likely to cause problems and 90% of the time it puts a buffer between me and the circular thinking, etc. When it gets really bad, though, I find discontinuing for a week or so is best, until the worst is over.

FWIW, I find meditation and deep breathing are other necessary components; they allow me to minimize THC/CBD use. I also still take Prozac, although I have my doubts about it’s effectiveness and I still have to take 2mg of diazepam to treat Parkinsonism as dropping below that level is unbearable (even having tried water titration, etc.).

All that said, everyone has a different reaction. I hope you have a good GP as THC is a drug as well and I believe that an effective treatment regimen depends on communication with and between your doctors if you have more than one. Mine isn’t and as everything has to go through him, my care has been appalling since I returned home to be near my grandchildren.

All the best to you.
