X2.

1. For your lovely & talented wife having your back.
2. For you listening.

Overall? That’s more important, in my own experience, than running into trouble. Being able to rely on the person with you.

The vetting? Could have gone either way. Her being willing to speak up, and you being willing to be wrong? Speaks well.

Look, I know there are good people out there who want to help others but there are times when your desire for help can swamp caution. I nearly got caught for a second time, and realizing that is not a nice feeling.
Yep, yep. We actually have to have this announcement (see below) & it’s gets pinned from time to time (less often since nixing certain areas of the site - DMs, etc.), because even as savvy & trust-issues as most members are? Shrug. It happens. Pain does that.

SNAFU CM.

I'm done with the UK's NHS contractors BS mental health tick list CBT as it had zero relevance to what was attacking me when I'm asleep. Despite me pleading for them to concentrate on the nightmares. End result? The anger I had suppressed for years is back! It wasn't until a USvet buddy asked me what training the "therapist" had in dealing with combat PTSD. So I asked the question. Answer? Nil, Zip, Nought, None.
I closed down the laptop, mid session, got really mad, threw my toys around, and cried like a baby that night. Next thing that happens is I get a letter. Short version? We can't / won't help you!

I wrote out a blistering letter to send back to the idiots. My wife read it, and it got trashed. What now? Dunno. The doctor said, "I'll look into it", four months ago. What's new about that??

One thing all this has done is got me out and about again.
Useful? Dunno yet but it bl**dy hurts as I'm back with hypervigilance on speed!
There are VET trained GPs now. Maybe if you look for one of those, they can refer you to a VET therapist? I onow RAF have a team of psychological support now too. You may not be RAF, but if you call them they could refer you to the equivilent support for you and your wife in Army or Navy.

Just some ideas. I come from a military family. Thank you for all you did/do and I am so sorry to hear you are struggling with PTSD from service to protect our peace.

Hi Evie. Yep, RAF / REME vet (don't ask why).
My GP's? useless. (one male, one female) both had no idea who to refer me too.
The male version sending me for a dementia evaluation. Which found . . . I had PTSD!
Ultimately, I ended up with the useless NHS Op.Courage. No help for nightmares, flashbacks, or hyper vigilance. Let alone the rest of the PTSD book.
Nearest PET therapist, 90 miles away and way out of my price bracket. Not that it matters.

Now the good news. Ever since I stopped being wound up by Op.Courage BS every fortnight, and left in the hands of my lovely wife, things are beginning to calm down. Except the Gov' have now taken my driving licence away. The good bit is my 77lb GSD is great at pulling me around in my mobility scooter . Some folk learned fast. See dog in front of chariot, smiling like mad and pulling hard and fast? Get the hell out of my way.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Thank you for your reply and thanks for your thoughts Evie. 💋
I'm not beaten, that's not in my nature and, as said, my lovely wife is gently pulling me back.
Long way to go but I will get there. Once I get the NHS to fix the physical bits that are still broken things will change for the better.

I think GPs are generally useless in UK. Its part of the monopoly culture that they don't feel they a) have to do any actual work to get paid b) can just add the red tape to make sure they don't have to do any work. I had a bad experience with my GP too. I don't think they are iver subscribed as they argue, I think they just won't do the admin - a propper referal letter or a letter of any kind to be honest.

My grandparents were army, dad was navy, brother army, nieces airforce. Thankfully nobe if them hit by PTSD. Just me.

Sounds like fun riding the scooter with the dog running along side. I would cover my scooter with stickers to 'zoop it up' and play my music really loud. One of my neighbours does this and he looks like he has so much fun.

😂. Love that idea. Problem is there are many Karen's around me and loud is one of their major hates. Poor dears, none OVER 60, and no sense of fun. They also hate me smiling and telling them to have a good day! Who would figure that so many can be so boring!!!!!! Keep safe. Have fun. As it drives Karens wild! Ps. They tried to get my wife on their side... She just laughed at them.
