Could really use some ideas and reminders. Even generally more common sense ones, or well discussed ones will be most helpful to list, (or list and discuss some).

And, any not so obvious or new ideas and reminders most helpful too.

Does anybody want to list or share what you do as far as life giving actions?

This can be sort of like directions to follow for any of us that don't always know and/or remember how to live.

People Who Want To Live - What Do You Do?

This may sound crazy but blowing bubbles with my grand-kids help me feel alive. Doing things like that with them helps me to remember that life can be fun.

My garden ... yesterday was the first time my daughter's kids found out that potatoes grow under the ground. I was laughing when I sent them to the garden to find the potatoes, they were looking through leaves and stuff. After they helped us with the potatoes, I pulled out two nice carottes for them. They just loved that.

Visiting other people's gardens and see how their veggies are doing.

Stuff like making homemade sushi with my daughter and son-in-law.

Drinking wine with neighbors, having and making a collective meal with them.

I thought of one that I do with my husband each year, and one that he did for fun this year.

We plant sunflowers and are watching them grow enormously tall.

He had fun placing little green soldiers with rifles on many of the leaves branches; From the seating on our porch, this arrangement can be seen rather well and is both cute and interesting to see.

Now that might be fun Ayesha!

Let's see my neighbor just put up a fence that gives us a great deal more privacy, my son jokes about now we can run through our backyard naked; Though that's not gonna really happen, we do have the privacy for me to do some dancing in the rain. :)

Helping others.

Not to see others as unfortunate and to place yourself above them but to just do something to help others without any expectation of return. Other than to know you helped. This can be volunterring or simply helping someone with a kind word here.

I know that's hard sometimes. A song lyric I know says something to the effect that you can't love others when you don't love yourself first. I think that can sometimes be the way it is with helping others and kindness. But even when you feel you can't help yourself, perhaps some small gesture to others can be something to build on and then become a reason to go on, if you can give yourself the credit for your actions.

Dear ISH- I think you're right- "Others, first" is what works for me.

I don't "love myself" but fortunately I've found some 'bypass' where I love to do that and it's fun for me. Not always fun- if it's work-related and the person is pretty 'nasty', but mostly enjoyable.

Definitely fun when I can just 'do it' and/ or be anonymous.
Plus, I think it's a happy-focus, actually one of the only things that works for me.
Plus (the focus is) 'off' myself/ ptsd.

-Plus dancing.

Plus I guess anything in general that is the opposite of ptsd: so if 'it's' despair, anger, panic, fear, hopelessness, etc, then whatever engenders hope, forgiveness, joy, peacefulness, relaxing etc, works better for me. Whether it's to go to a park or what I hear, or light a candle, etc- sometimes just the smallest things help (all I can bear at that moment).
